commercial activities, ensuring accurate cost management, timely documentation, and effective coordination with stakeholders.
Roles & Responsibilities
Pre-Contract Duties
Take off quantities from issued drawings and prepare the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) as per the
POMI
method of measurement.
Verify BOQs against drawings, identify discrepancies, and highlight additional works.
Respond to tender invitations and coordinate with management for tender submissions.
Prepare subcontractor packages, issue RFIs, follow up on quotations, and develop comparison sheets.
Review and interpret pre-contract documents including scope, specifications, and requirements.
Conduct rate analysis with support from the Project Manager and update BOQ pricing.
Prepare tender comparison reports and assist in final commercial offers and submission documents.
Review and comment on contract agreements prior to award.
Post-Contract Duties
Review project scope, drawings, preambles, and specifications.
Monitor and track material quantities delivered, issued, and consumed at site.
Prepare monthly
Interim Payment Applications (IPA)
and follow up for timely certification.
Prepare variation claims, including identification of changes and supporting documentation.
Notify subcontractors of changes or variations and ensure proper documentation.
Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors regarding discounts, rebates, and payment terms.
Verify supplier and subcontractor invoices prior to payment processing.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and support commercial optimization initiatives.
Arrange commercial meetings, prepare minutes of meetings, and handle contractual correspondence.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Minimum
3-5 years
of relevant QS experience in construction.
Strong knowledge of BOQ preparation, POMI, rate analysis, and contract management.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and quantity measurement software.
