The Quantity Surveyor will support post-award project execution by preparing accurate quantity take-offs, validating progress measurements, and handling cost-related documentation. The candidate must have solid experience in piping (dia-inch), structural steel, and electrical quantity estimation, along with strong skills in invoice preparation and approval workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quantity Measurement & Take-Offs
Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for:
Piping works
including dia-inch calculation and MTO preparation
Structural steel fabrication and erection
(tonnage calculations)
Electrical cable works
, trays, and associated materials
Verify MTOs and quantities from IFC, shop drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and layout drawings.
Conduct site measurements and assist in quantity reconciliations.
2. Post-Award Commercial Responsibilities
Assist project teams in interpreting BOQs and schedules of prices.
Track material consumption and certify quantities for construction activities.
Prepare and review
variation requests
, quantity changes, and additional works.
3. Invoice Preparation & Approvals
Prepare
monthly progress bills (IPCs)
with supporting measurement sheets.
Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to validate installed quantities.
Ensure timely submission of invoices to the client in line with contract requirements.
Follow up on
invoice approvals
, respond to comments, and coordinate revisions.
Review and certify subcontractor invoices and ensure alignment with approved quantities.
4. Cost & Documentation Support
Support cost estimation, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
Maintain accurate records of quantities, productivity, and measurement logs.
Assist in preparing reports for management, including quantity status and cost impacts.
Support commercial evaluations for subcontractor quotations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in
Quantity Surveying
,
Mechanical Engineering
, or related discipline.
Minimum
8 years of QS experience
in oil & gas or industrial projects (post-award experience required).
Strong knowledge of
piping dia-inch calculations
, steel tonnage estimation, and electrical cable quantity assessment.
Proficiency in reading
P&IDs, isometrics, GAs, SLDs
, and construction drawings.
Excellent MS Excel skills; knowledge of AutoCAD and quantity measurement software is preferred.
Good understanding of commercial and contractual requirements for billing.
Strong communication, coordination, and documentation skills.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with EPC contractors or major oil & gas clients.
Familiarity with cost control, contract administration, and change management.
