About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong

Proposal Engineer

to support our water and wastewater treatment projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing technical and commercial proposals, supporting the sales team, and ensuring accurate, competitive, and timely bid submissions. This role is critical in driving business growth for our small to medium scale enterprise.

Key Responsibilities1. Proposal Preparation

Study client inquiries, tender documents, drawings, and specifications in detail. Prepare

technical and commercial proposals

, including process design calculations, equipment selection, costing, and BOQs. Develop preliminary

P&IDs, layouts

, and process descriptions as required. Ensure proposals comply with client requirements, standards, and company capabilities.

2. Cost Estimation & Budgeting

Estimate equipment, material, fabrication, and installation costs for water and wastewater treatment systems. Coordinate with procurement to obtain supplier quotations and evaluate technical compliance. Prepare costing sheets, budget summaries, and cost breakups.

3. Technical Evaluation

Perform basic to intermediate

process design calculations

(e.g., clarifiers, filters, RO, UF, STPs, ETPs, WTPs). Identify deviations and prepare technical clarifications or alternative solutions when needed. Support technical presentations and discussions with clients and consultants.

4. Coordination & Communication

Coordinate with internal teams such as Engineering, Projects, Procurement, R&D, and Management. Engage with vendors for technical information, pricing, and lead times. Support sales team with technical inputs during client meetings or site visits.

5. Documentation & Compliance

Prepare proposal documentation including datasheets, specifications, scope of supply, compliance statements, and exclusions. Ensure all proposals are submitted within deadlines and maintain version control. Maintain an organized database of proposals, costs, and supplier information for future reference.

Required Qualifications & SkillsEducation

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering. Additional certification in Water/Wastewater Treatment is an advantage.

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes. Ability to perform process calculations and size equipment. Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar software is an advantage. Experience with costing and budgeting for treatment plants.

Professional Skills

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills (written & verbal). Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines. Detail-oriented with strong documentation abilities. Team player with proactive and flexible work approach.

Experience

2-5 years of experience in proposal engineering within the

water/wastewater treatment industry

. Experience in a small or medium enterprise (SME) environment is preferred.
