At Smiths Detection Middle East, we have a great opportunity for a Project Quality Manager to work for the major infrastructure project in Kuwait. Reporting to the Regional Heads of Programme and working closely with program managers, you will contribute to the development and implementation of professionally written quality documents as per the program/project requirements. The main purpose of the role is to developing project quality plans, work instructions, quality procedures, method statements and implementing Project Quality Management Systems and its processes as per contract requirements including aligning these to Smiths Detection corporate quality standards. This role requires an ability to work under pressure and to demanding deadlines and engage with customers directly. You will also be responsible of evaluating tenders, prepare compliance matrix, quality plans for new tenders. You will apply the expert knowledge to address complex challenges presented in tender documents as well as identify ways to improve the quality consistency and efficiently.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the implementation of the Quality Management System for the assigned Project.
  • Develop the Project Quality Plan and Project Quality Policy for the works and services to be provided which will meet and satisfy the contract requirements, applicable regularity requirements and Smiths Detection business process at all levels of operation
  • Monitor, Manage and continuously improve the project quality management system and update project quality plan proactively to maintain the highest standards.
  • Conduct periodic internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of the project quality management system and conformance with:
    • Project specification requirements and procedures
    • ISO 9001:2015
    • Management directives
  • Coordinate with the Heads of Programme /Project Director, advising on quality issues
  • Establish Project Quality audit program & schedule and perform the Project Quality Audit and Report the Project Quality Audit Results to Heads or Programme and Programme Manager
  • Submit Monthly Project Quality Reports and KPI’s as per the project and contract requirements.
  • Report the performance status of Project Quality activities and relevant issues to the Heads of Programme and Programme Manager to which you have been assigned.
  • Manage changes in QMS processes
  • Establish key performance measures and their criticality and location of controls
  • Developing the scope of Work / Supply based on Customer requirements
  • Submit bi-weekly and monthly QA/QC reports to the Programme Manager for the assigned programme/project.
  • Prepare required documentation for all Testing requirements as per the project i.e., Work Inspection Reports (WIR), Material Inspection Report (MIR), Works Completion Inspection Report (CIR), Factory Acceptance and Site Acceptance Test Protocols and Reports, Training Records etc.

The Individual
  • Bachelor (or higher) degree in Civil/ Electronic/Mechanical Engineering and or Business Management.
  • Must have at least Seven (7) to Ten (10) experience of professional experience in quality management in international projects, ideally in Civil/ Electronic/Mechanical Engineering and or Business Management
  • Should have knowledge of X-rays, Checkpoint System / Baggage Handling System
  • Ability to quickly adapt to different teams and products within the scope of different projects
  • Desirable experience in working on airport construction projects
  • Ability to quickly adapt to different teams and products within the scope of different projects
  • Technical awareness including an understanding of security systems, internet /network-based solutions
  • Experience of leading internal business processes
  • Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills in English
  • Solid time management / prioritization skills
  • Handling third party vendors, partners and aligning them with our deals, as and when required.
  • Experience in handling multiple programmes/projects concurrently
  • Experience using MS Word, MS PPT, AutoCad and Adobe FrameMaker would be an additional edge
