• PROJECT BACKGROUND

The Business Egypt Program is a five-year, USAID-funded program implemented by DAI. Business Egypt aims to substantially increase sales revenues and investments among Egyptian micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises and, by so doing, create new job opportunities, especially for women and youth. The project will co-invest with an ecosystem of institutions—business service providers, business associations, supportive government institutions, and more—to offer new products and services enabling MSMEs to better meet market demand and increase their sales. Business Egypt’s proposed sectors are renewable energy, ICT, and 3 additional sectors TBD. The project will operate from offices in Cairo, Alexandria, and Minya/Assiut (TBD). 2. POSITION DESCRIPTION The global climate change entrepreneurship ecosystem is dispersed and unconnected. Thus, a global/national competition led by the Ministry of International Cooperation (MoIC), the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Ministry of Environment (MoE) and jointly organized, and implemented in cooperation with the Youth Entrepreneurship Network (YEN) and USAID Business Egypt project, among other partners. The competition aims to embed green innovations and breakthrough technologies in the global climate change agenda. This is to be reached through establishing a COP 27 Innovation and Technology Platform that will outline current challenges that demand timely solutions. The competition will run through a platform which will be of use after the competition to be a space for interaction between startups, the government, tech companies and the Development Partners (USAID, UN agencies, etc.). The Climate Tech Competition will be launched to recognize creative solutions to the challenges facing global economies due to climate change; increase awareness of the severe impacts of climate change on sustainable development; and stimulate creativity and entrepreneurship to support job creation and improve economic growth in the field of green economy; The competition will be led by a steering committee comprising the 3 ministries in charge, and implemented through the Youth Entrepreneurs Network (YEN) as well as other entities in close liaison with USAID Egypt, Business Egypt’ team and other development partners. The selected candidate is the main responsible of the whole implementation, operations and activities related to the competition. The selected candidate will lead the coordination of the different activities to ensure a timely implementation of the activities such as; the competition launch event, competition platform that will host the application and news on the competition, activation plan before and during COP27, post COP27 program from the finalists that will arrive to Egypt as well as any other activity that might arise. This includes all preparatory activities and coordination. The selected candidate will responsible to leverage the resources provided by different partners and other consultants in highly efficient manner, working closely with the steering committee and updating its members with progress, and ensuring the sound implementation of the competition according to the guidelines and roadmap provided by the steering committee. The selected candidate will also coordinate with the YEN members and other implementing partners to ensure an efficient implementation of the plan. 3. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as the project lead in regard to the overall activities related to the Climate Tech Competition
• Review and update the strategy to manage the project and its implementation plan
• Report progress to the steering committee (MoIC, MoE, and MCIT)
• Coordinate between YEN, Business Egypt and the different partners to ensure activities are executed efficiently and within the agreed timeline
• Flag and manage any troubleshoot that may arise during the project implementation
• Apply sound project management principles in planning, leading and tracking all project activities to ensure accomplishment of defined goals and objectives within time and budget
• Ensure that all activities related to the competition are conducted according to the agreed standards with the steering committee, this includes but is not limited to: communication plan, engagement plan, platform development, selection process, shortlisted announcement, partners engagement, pitching event at COP27 preparation, acceleration program post-COP27, etc.
• Ability to work and manage high level stakeholders;

4. DELIVERABLES

• Climate tech Competition strategy and implementation plans – during the first 1 week of the assignment
• Weekly progress report against the implementation plan

5. QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field
• 10-12 years of business experience in project management or similar fields
• Robust time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously and efficiently;
• Experience in similar role, notably related to engaging with the international entrepreneurship ecosystem
• Strategic and critical thinking skills and a keen eye details
• Excellent Communication and engagement skills
• Conflict resolution, effective problem solving, and mitigating risks, solving and / or escalating issues as appropriate
• Proficient command of written and verbal of both English and Arabic;
• Excellent presentation skills
