Job Description

The Production Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the organization\'s production facilities, planning, coordinating, and directing the activities (processes) that result in products (goods). He is responsible for refurbishing RO membrane elements using an automated chemical cleaning process. The position calls for a hands-on manager who collaboratively works with and alongside their team whenever required.

Job Responsibilities:

\xe2\x80\x93 Plan and determine optimal utilization of production workers and equipment to meet manufacturing goals.

\xe2\x80\x93 Determine if new manufacturing machines and methods are needed.

\xe2\x80\x93 Ensure that manufacturing stays on schedule and within budget.

\xe2\x80\x93 Ensure exceptional safety standards with a particular emphasis on the proper handling and storage of chemicals, which must be diligently always applied and adhered to.

\xe2\x80\x93 Coordinate manufacturing with Sales, Marketing, Procurement, and other departments, as well as with vendors and shippers.

\xe2\x80\x93 Help ensure that customer, statutory, standards, and internal requirements are met or exceeded.

\xe2\x80\x93 Help to hire, train, and evaluate production workers; monitor workers to ensure they meet performance and safety requirements.

\xe2\x80\x93 Analyze manufacturing data and identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement; identify and utilize methods of making the manufacturing process more efficient and effective (reducing waste, using lean).

\xe2\x80\x93 Write manufacturing reports and present them to top management.

\xe2\x80\x93 Direct corrections (corrective action) of any manufacturing problems that may arise; work in the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Organizational Relationships:

\xe2\x80\x93 Reports directly to the organization\'s Managing Director (MD). Assists and works in conjunction with Sales, Marketing, Logistics (Warehousing), and Procurement management, as well as vendors and shippers.

Job Requirements:

\xe2\x80\x93 Education: A bachelor\'s degree in chemical or biochemical engineering or a related field of engineering is required. This ensures a strong foundation in the technical aspects of the role.

\xe2\x80\x93 Experience: At least 5 years of job relevant experience and 1 of these years in a leadership role as supervisor, group leader, or manager. Previous experience in a similar production management role ideally within the water treatment industry, preferably involving chemical cleaning processes is a plus.

\xe2\x80\x93 Safety and Compliance: Familiarity with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and adherence to quality standards within the manufacturing industry.

\xe2\x80\x93 Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, senior management, and external stakeholders. The ability to work well with people at all levels and an educational background is essential.

\xe2\x80\x93 Adaptability and Time Management: Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, multitask, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines.

\xe2\x80\x93 Strong organizational and managerial skills required. Project management experience is a must; candidates with project management certification will be given preference.

Key Skills:

\xe2\x80\x93 Technical Knowledge: Possess a strong understanding of Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems, membrane cleaning processes, and the equipment used in refurbishment. This includes knowledge of chemical cleaning agents, automation systems, and troubleshooting techniques.

\xe2\x80\x93 Process Optimization: Ability to analyze production processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Proficiency in data analysis and using tools like Lean Six Sigma methodologies would be beneficial.

\xe2\x80\x93 Leadership and Team Management: Effective leadership skills to motivate and guide a team of technicians in a fast-paced production environment. This includes assigning tasks, providing feedback, resolving conflicts, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

\xe2\x80\x93 Quality Assurance: Strong attention to detail and the ability to implement and maintain quality control measures throughout the refurbishment process. Knowledge of industry standards, quality management systems, and documentation is essential.

\xe2\x80\x93 Problem Solving: Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to equipment, chemical processes, or membrane performance. The ability to think critically, analyze data, and propose effective solutions is crucial.

Physical Demands:

\xe2\x80\x93 The ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, management, and coworkers is crucial. Regular use of the phone and email for communication is essential. Hearing and vision correctable to within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, receiving ordinary information, and preparing or inspecting documents.

\xe2\x80\x93 The ability to remain in a stationary position roughly 60% of the time, as well as the ability to move about the manufacturing facilities (access files/storage, office equipment, computers, and other productivity devices; plan, organize, and attend manufacturing meetings; attend to various issues on the shop floor; etc.), is required.

\xe2\x80\x93 Using a computer while sitting for extended periods is common, though sometimes time will be spent in the manufacturing area, where eye, ear, and other protection (safety gear) are required.

\xe2\x80\x93 Some lifting is expected and part of the production process, with occasional exertion of about 20-25kg of force (e.g., loading or unloading the production machines with RO membranes) may be required. Good manual dexterity is needed to use common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, copiers/scanners).

Work Environment:

The job is primarily performed indoors in a traditional office setting, though much time will be spent in the production facility. Occasionally time will be spent at customer sites to help extract RO membranes. Extended periods of sitting while using a computer or other productivity devices are common and so are extended periods of standing while observing production processes.

Work Timings:

The company working times are 6 days a week from Monday to Saturday from 8:00 to 17:00 including a one-hour lunch break (Daily 8 hours + 1 hour break time).

The company plans to work in a two-shift system in the future and it is expected for this role to participate equally in both shifts.
