To plan, organize, and control production to ensure that goods are produced efficiently on time, and within budget and standards. Direct supervision of entire Shift Managers/Supervisors with respect to production volume, cost, quality, and meeting production schedules.
Key Performance Areas:
To ensure that the operation complies with all legislative and ethical standards with regard to safety, food hygiene and staff management. To drive the optimum compliance with all audits including HACCP, GMP, H&S etc. to reach the highest standards.GMP, H&S etc. to reach the highest standards.
To ensure that all line and process equipment is clean and fit for purpose
To collaborate with the Maintenance manager to ensure the proper completion of engineering maintenance and project work, as required
For promotion of the effective team working by developing the Shift Managers roles
Understand, challenge and seek to improve on industry \xe2\x80\x9cbest practice\xe2\x80\x9d to drive a continuous improvement philosophy within the factory
Ensure team is aware of their specific responsibilities and targets for the shift / sets targets / standards for improvement for own team members
Carries out appraisal of immediate team members (Shift Managers)
Develops an annual training plan for own team and measures performance against it
Monitor shift absence in accordance to site policy & ensure absence targets are met
Identifies labour requirements and arranges them to resource the plan
Ensures W.I for all tasks is available and used to ensure standardization of tasks
Review performance against all KPIs
Deliver an agreed saving in controllable costs year on year versus the pro-rata increase/decrease in factory volumes
Develop plant ownership, aiming to increase plant/machinery utilization and performance
Lead continuous improvement projects from ideas generation to completion
Support CAPEX proposals in line with safety, OEE, and quality improvements, with a view to reducing operating costs
Carry out equipment and material trials and ensure all settings and procedures are documented in accordance with site procedures
Make sure breakdowns improvement actions are acted upon
Ensure that all plant operatives and Shift Managers have a thorough understanding of the required GMP standards
Establish and maintain an understanding of all CCPs within plant (process and packing)
Ensures all hazards have been assessed, and that there are risk assessments for all significant hazards. Ensure that all their staff are aware of the hazards in the workplace. Reviews risk assessment content and program. Ensures Risk assessments are considered for all tasks
Leads a team to carry out random safety audits, on a monthly basis. Champions a selected number of suggested improvements from the audits
Ensures response to near misses, and accident forms are acted in a timely manner. Champions improvement
Responsible at all times for ensuring optimum customer service in terms of quality, quantity, and punctuality and promoting safe working practices.
Experience , Knowledge and Skills Required :
Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in manufacturing.
A University degree or equivalent.
Knowledge of mass Food Production processes
Hands-on experience of managing and supervising busy production processes Food
Hygiene and Food Production Quality Management qualification
Technical Experience of modern manufacturing practice
Effective communication at all levels within the organization Effective presentation skills
Strong leadership skills are essential.
