Position Title: Procurement Officer - MEP Products
Department: Procurement / Supply Chain
Reports To: MEP Manager
Location: Doha
Position Overview
The Procurement Officer - MEP Products is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) materials, equipment, and services required for projects. The role ensures cost-effective, timely, and quality-focused procurement while maintaining compliance with organizational procedures and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Procurement & Sourcing
- Identify, evaluate, and register suppliers and subcontractors for MEP materials and systems.
- Request and analyze technical and commercial quotations, ensuring alignment with project specifications.
- Manage end-to-end procurement cycles for MEP products including HVAC, electrical components, fire-fighting material, plumbing items, pumps, cables, fittings, control systems, and related accessories.
2. Negotiation & Cost Control
- Conduct negotiations on pricing, delivery terms, payment terms, and warranties.
- Prepare cost comparison sheets and present recommendations to management.
- Achieve cost savings without compromising quality or project requirements.
3. Purchase Order & Documentation
- Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (POs) and subcontract agreements in coordination with the project and finance teams.
- Ensure all procurement documentation is accurate, validated, and complies with company policies.
- Maintain updated records of all procurement transactions for audit and reporting.
4. Vendor Management
- Evaluate supplier performance (quality, delivery, compliance, after-sales service).
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and manufacturers.
- Monitor supplier deliveries to ensure on-time arrival at site.
5. Coordination with Internal Teams
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and quantity surveyors for material approvals and technical clarifications.
- Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams for shipment tracking and receipt of materials.
- Support estimation and tender teams with MEP material pricing and supplier inquiries.
6. Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all procured products meet project specifications, regulatory standards, and approved material submittals.
- Follow company procurement SOPs, ethical purchasing practices, and compliance guidelines.
7. Reporting & Control
- Prepare weekly procurement status reports and material delivery schedules.
- Highlight delays, risks, and procurement bottlenecks to the line manager.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of procurement experience in MEP contracting or MEP product supply.
- Strong knowledge of MEP materials, systems, and project-based procurement cycles.
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Odoo) is preferred.

- Strong negotiation and commercial acumen.
- Excellent understanding of MEP materials and technical specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and BOQs.
- Strong communication and vendor management skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
