The Senior Procurement Officer is responsible for managing the procurement process for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems in construction and infrastructure projects. The role involves sourcing, negotiating, and securing high-quality materials, equipment, and services while ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Strategy & Planning:
Develop and implement procurement strategies to support MEP project requirements.
Plan and manage procurement schedules to align with project milestones and timelines.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other departments to forecast material needs.
Supplier & Vendor Management:
Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers and contractors for MEP-related materials and services.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring reliability, quality, and timely deliveries.
Conduct regular supplier performance reviews to assess quality, cost, and service levels.
Cost Management & Budgeting:
Monitor procurement budgets and ensure adherence to cost constraints.
Negotiate favorable terms and pricing with vendors to achieve cost savings.
Track and report procurement expenses to ensure cost efficiency throughout the project.
Contract Negotiation & Management:
Negotiate contracts with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms, pricing, and conditions.
Review and manage supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and timely deliveries.
Address any issues or disputes related to contracts, ensuring resolution in a timely manner.
Risk Management & Compliance:
Identify and mitigate procurement risks that may impact project timelines, budgets, or quality.
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal company policies.
Maintain a focus on sustainability and environmentally-friendly procurement practices where possible.
Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare procurement reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
Maintain accurate procurement records, documentation, and databases.
Ensure that all procurement processes are documented in line with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Project Coordination:
Coordinate with project teams to ensure materials and services are delivered as per the project schedule.
Provide technical and procurement support to project teams during project execution.
Assist in resolving any procurement-related issues that may arise during project execution.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Education
: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil), Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
Experience
: Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement within the MEP or construction industry.
Technical Knowledge
: In-depth understanding of MEP systems, materials, and equipment used in construction projects.
Procurement Skills
: Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
Project Management
: Experience working in a project-oriented environment with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Software
: Proficient in procurement software and tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.) and MS Office Suite.
