The Head of Procurement plays a critical leadership role in overseeing all procurement operations and strategic sourcing activities related to heavy truck parts. This position requires deep technical knowledge of truck components, global supplier networks, and strong business acumen to ensure uninterrupted supply, cost optimization, quality assurance, and strategic vendor partnerships. The ideal candidate will be experienced in navigating complex international and regional sourcing environments (especially China, Europe, and the GCC), managing multi-brand inventories, and leading high-performing procurement teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Procurement & Planning:
Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the company's business goals.
Develop annual procurement plans in coordination with sales forecasts, inventory data, and service demands.
Forecast demand for truck parts and ensure optimal stock levels based on sales and service requirements through coordination with Inventory Team.
Analyze market trends to identify potential suppliers and alternatives for cost efficiency.
Vendor Development & Management:
Identify, evaluate, and onboard local and international suppliers specializing in heavy-duty truck parts.
Build strong vendor relationships to ensure quality, price competitiveness, and reliable delivery schedules.
Negotiate favorable payment terms, MOQs, credit lines, and contractual agreements to support the company's cash flow strategy.
Conduct supplier risk assessments and establish alternate sourcing channels to mitigate disruptions.
Conduct supplier performance reviews and negotiate long-term contracts or framework agreements.
Purchase Control:
Oversee end-to-end procurement cycle - from RFQs, purchase orders, to delivery and invoicing.
Collaborate with finance to control procurement budgets and monitor cost efficiency.
Oversee annual and quarterly supplier reviews and price benchmarking
Monitor inventory turnover rates and avoid overstocking or stockouts.
Coordinate with warehouse and sales teams to maintain optimal stock levels and part availability.
Cost Control & Negotiation:
Lead price negotiations to achieve cost savings and maximize profit margins.
Monitor global pricing trends and currency fluctuations affecting import costs.
Evaluate total landed costs to ensure competitive pricing for the business.
Product and Market Knowledge:
Maintain an expert-level understanding of heavy truck parts, systems, and brands, including but not limited to Volvo, Scania, Mercedes-Benz, MAN, Iveco, DAF, Hino, and Isuzu.
Collaborate with technical teams to validate specifications and compatibility of sourced parts.
Keep abreast of new technologies and innovations in truck spare parts to advise inventory expansion or replacement.
Team Management & Compliance:
Manage and mentor the procurement team to ensure high performance and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies and external regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate procurement records and reports for auditing and analysis.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with sales, operations, finance, and logistics teams to align procurement plans with business needs.
Provide technical input on part specifications and quality standards when sourcing parts.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain/ Mechanical/Automotive Engineering/ Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum 5-10 years of procurement experience, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role in the
automotive or heavy truck parts industry
.
In-depth knowledge of heavy truck components (engine parts, brake systems, suspension, etc.).
Strong negotiation, analytical, and leadership skills.
Excellent knowledge of international sourcing, customs, and import regulations (especially from China, Europe, GCC).
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
Strong communication and vendor relationship management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree or Supply Chain/Procurement Certification
Experience in GCC market and familiarity with key truck brands (Mercedes, Volvo, Scania, MAN, etc.).
Multilingual abilities.
Holding a valid UAE driving license is considered beneficial for this role
