Role Summary
The Process Automation Engineer analyzes, supports, and coordinates automation system installations and upgrades while providing technical input into engineering design and automation projects. The role ensures that process automation, control, and information systems meet company, regulatory, and international standards, supporting operational excellence across ADNOC facilities.
What You'll Do

  • Assess existing automation, control, and information systems for obsolescence, reliability, vendor support, and integration
  • Audit system performance and identify opportunities for process monitoring and operational improvement
  • Support development and updates of technical specifications and automation standards
  • Conduct technical and economic feasibility studies for automation and control applications
  • Develop functional specifications, design documents, as-built drawings, user manuals, and training materials
  • Coordinate with site maintenance teams, vendors, and service providers for system upgrades and modifications
  • Provide engineering support for real-time process information systems and laboratory information management systems
  • Support optimization initiatives including alarm management, control loop performance monitoring, and MES applications
  • Develop scopes of work and tender documentation for automation-related projects
  • Participate in technical bid evaluations in line with company standards
  • Support project implementation, installation, commissioning, and system upgrades to ensure delivery within budget and schedule
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Controls, Chemical, or Automation)
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in automation systems design, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance
  • Experience within a large industrial organization, preferably in the oil and gas industry
  • Strong knowledge of process automation, DCS, ICS, telemetry, and real-time plant information systems
  • Experience with system validation, testing, and lifecycle support
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
