Position Overview
ADNOC Group is seeking a Process Automation Engineer to support and optimize advanced process control, real-time optimization, alarm management, digitalization, and higher-level applications across major oil and gas operations in Abu Dhabi. Key Responsibilities

  • Review and provide engineering expertise for process control, advanced process control, optimization, automation, alarm management, and digitalization.
  • Evaluate process automation systems regularly and recommend improvements aligned with HSE and international standards.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of procedures related to process automation to ensure robust and consistent performance.
  • Monitor uptime, performance, and financial benefits of all automation systems, identifying areas of improvement.
  • Conduct technical evaluations and feasibility studies for new automation applications.
  • Lead implementation of approved projects handled by consultants, including design, tendering, engineering, installation, and commissioning.
  • Review, develop, and update technical documents such as functional specifications, design packages, as-built files, training materials, and maintenance procedures.
  • Troubleshoot automation systems to maximize reliability and operational continuity.
  • Identify opportunities for optimization programs that enhance plant efficiency and yield.
  • Lead alarm management and rationalization activities and ensure recommendations are implemented.
  • Evaluate vendors and contractors technically during pre-qualification and bidding stages.
  • Conduct training and knowledge-sharing sessions to support long-term automation sustainability.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor degree in Chemical, Petrochemical, Process Control Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in process control and optimization within the oil and gas sector.
  • Strong expertise in DCS, APC, RTO, BLPC, CLPM, AMS, dashboards, and related automation systems.
  • Practical experience in delivering at least 2 RTO and 4 APC projects, including alarm rationalization.
  • Strong understanding of process control standards for CONCEPT, SELECT, and DEFINE project phases.
  • Knowledge of national and international regulations governing process control and automation.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Solid knowledge of HSE principles and their application in oil and gas operations.
