Job Description

We are looking for Principal Geologist, for base & precious metals division, to lead and oversee exploration programs to identify and evaluate potential mineral deposits in underexplored geological environments. As a seasoned Principal Geologist, you will report directly to the Head of Exploration and apply your extensive expertise in prospect generation and evaluation of greenfield and brownfield exploration projects. Additionally, you will provide support to the Business (BD) and Project Development (PD) teams throughout various project execution phases, including scoping, pre-feasibility, feasibility, project assessment, remediation, and decommissioning/closure. The role will also require heavily working in the field, training young geologists, and collaborating with consultants. With your advanced skills and experience, you can help our company achieve its exploration goals and establish itself as a leading player in the mining industry.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Lead and supervise exploration activities in the field as well as the office by working closely with the team.

2. Carry out technical functions including geological mapping, sampling, logging when appropriate, and deliver high quality geological products.

3. Generate exploration targets using geological mapping, geochemical and geophysical data.

4. Plan and execute regional sampling programs with the team.

5. Assists Exploration Manager and Head of Exploration in preparing yearly budgets.

6. Initiating, leading, coordinating and reviewing scoping, pre-feasibility, and feasibility studies by working with BD & PD teams plus consultants.

7. Reporting and presenting as required for project deliverables

8. Mentor young geologists, and help them improve their skills

Requirements

Education

Bachelor's degree in geology. - Qualification in Economic Geology will be an added advantage.

Experience:

- Minimum 10 years of experience as an exploration geologist with increasing levels of responsibility is preferred.

- Ideally exposure to VMS deposits associated with ophiolites, but experience in various mineralization and deposit styles are also desired.

- Multiple commodities including base and precious metals, and chromite

Special Skills & Knowledge:

- Knowledge of mineral deposits and models, and exploration methods used to evaluate and discover mineral deposits.

- Ability to identify various alteration patterns and instruct staff to recognize favourable geologic settings for exploration.

- Being fit to conduct exertive field work.

- General understanding of mining operations.

- Good working knowledge and skills with GIS, MX Deposit, and Leapfrog software

- Experience in due diligence activities and auditing.

- NI 43-101, JORC Technical report writing.

This position is based at Muscat office but requires extensive travels to project sites
