Job Description

Our esteemed client, a prominent player in the nuclear energy sector based in Abu Dhabi, is seeking an experienced and highly qualified Plant Manager to lead and oversee their crucial nuclear facility operations. This leadership role holds significant responsibility for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the nuclear power plant.

The role will be permanent and Site based.

Job Purpose

Provide overall leadership to plant operations and maintenance of the Plant as per regulatory requirements, operating policies and procedures, nuclear standards for employees and public health and safety, and environmental protection to ensure safe and reliable power generation.

Plant Management - Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Manage the plant consistent with operating policies and procedures, nuclear maintenance requirements, the license, design basis, and other regulatory requirements, to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure industry events related to operations and maintenance are reviewed and lessons learned are incorporated into maintenance documents to maintain optimal efficiency in delivering energy.
  • Recommend plant strategies, plans, and management process improvements to support achieving plant performance targets, and long-term plant reliability.
  • Provide guidance to plant management team to establish standards for housekeeping, material condition, as well as operations and maintenance effectiveness to ensure organizational effectiveness.
  • Oversee plant systems and equipment, manage their performance to optimize equipment availability and ensure safety and long-term reliability.
  • Validate and manage the oversight of the number of permanent and temporary modifications to the plant in accordance with defined requirements to ensure safe, reliable operations.
  • Validate temporary changes to special safety systems and reactor regulating systems to ensure safe, reliable operations.
  • Oversee the environmental parameters and site fire brigades to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Validate the commencement of commissioning and the placing in service of permanent plant modifications to ensure safe, reliable operations.
  • Oversee the preparation and execution of Commissioning (both Pre-Core and Power Ascension Testing (PAT)), including oversight procedures and processes required to perform effective oversight of the activities performed by PC and Operations to assure design criteria, safety and regulatory requirements are satisfied.
  • Conduct periodic walk downs of plant facilities to check plant condition.
Plant Performance - Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Validate that actual performance is monitored against established performance criteria through various means such as self-assessment programs, performance monitoring programs, and direct personal observation to continuously improve performance.
  • Validate that problem-solving and analysis is conducted when unacceptable performance deviations occur and that corrective actions are initiated and tracked to resolution to continuously improve performance
  • Validate plant operating, maintenance, testing, and other procedures in accordance with license requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Liaise as required with the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) regarding plant Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities to ensure alignment.
  • Oversee O&M plans, programs, and activities are conducted in accordance with relevant environmental, FANR, and Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC)/ Nawah policy requirements to ensure compliance.
Other activites, will include Staff Training and Qualification, Effective Management System, Safety Values and Action, Outage and Emergency Response Organization (ERO) Support, Corporate Strategy and Leadership, Health and Safety and Security, People Management, Excellence and Quality Management

Requirements:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering or related Science.
  • 14 years of relevant experience, out of which: - 6 years Power Plant Experience, of which:
  • i. 4 years is Nuclear Power Plant Experience.
  • ii. 5 years of supervisory or management experience, including nuclear power operations, refueling outage (or initial fuel load) and Startup Testing
  • Shall hold or have held a Senior Reactor Operator certification at a Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) facility.
Preferred:
  • 0.5 years of on-site experience with APR-1400 or OPR-1000 operations experience.
  • APR1400 or OPR1000 SRO license
