Job purpose
Lead a team, manage and direct the operations for all export petrochemical activities for OTTCO Terminal at Duqm under Operation Manager OTTCO scope’s through (1) Utilising efficient processes and standards in compliance with HSE requirements and polices in order to ensure integrity and reliability of assets and value addition to the company in terms of cost reduction and incomes and; in order to contribute with the regular / safest operations.
The position will act in accordance with OTTCO’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justification’s, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Perform all operation activities role in export petrochemical terminal.
  • Supervise Troubleshooting and optimizing process operations and equipment.
  • Communicating and correcting process quality problems.
  • Providing technical assistance for operating procedures.
  • Participating in Process Safety Management (PSM) activities.
  • Identifying and developing process improvement ideas and working to ensure ideas are incorporated into expense and capital plans.
  • Providing technical support for major turnarounds and unit shutdown / start-ups on shift schedule.
  • Monitoring/evaluating unit key performance metrics and maintaining effective monitoring reports, yields and trends.
  • Participate in Engineering, Procurement, Construction and commissioning and Operation phases of the Terminal.
  • Provide general support activities directly linked to operation and systems.
  • Review and comment operation engineering deliverables.
  • Work within a multi-discipline team to develop efficient and reliable operation packages.
  • Inspect project site to monitor HSE, progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and standards.
  • Ensure HSE and PTW systems are followed before starting a job, ensure proper use of tools and PPE, conduct regular site visits, advice co-workers on potential hazards, check safety equipment, notify management of unsafe working conditions, report HSE incidents, actively participate in HSE meetings.
  • Prepare, monitor and control annual budgets for the section, monitor and control expenditure and review budget quarterly with the Area Coordinator and annually during Mid-year budget reviews.
  • Demonstrates awareness and commitment to health, safety and environmental issues. Addresses those issues as necessary to ensure zero harm to all employees clients, contractors with zero environmental incidents.
  • Adheres to required processes and offers.
  • Supporting unit turnarounds including work list identification/justification, procedure writing, procedure review and equipment inspection.
  • Developing, monitoring and evaluating unit performance metrics and maintaining effective monitoring reports.
  • Perform other related duties or assignments as directed


Key interactions
Internal: Department Managers, Operations Shift Staff, SCM, TSD, Maintenance, HSE, Fire
External: OQ, SIPC, Surveying Companies, ROP and Civil Defense, gas companies, other contractors and suppliers as required.

Notable Working Conditions. Field Operations and office environment, Moderate to intensive computer screen use.

Education requirements
  • Bachelor degree in engineering discipline, preferably in Chemical or equivalent


Language requirements
Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) , Arabic - Native (desirable)

Background and experience
Competencies and skills

  • 6+ years of experience in Operations and petrochemical Operations.
  • A good knowledge of relevant E&P operations, HSE requirements, Oil/Gas process & systems procedures and practices.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, estimating and working with contracts and sub-contractors.
  • Strong ability to mentor, train and build working relationships, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A good knowledge of operations, HSE requirements, Oil/Gas process & systems procedures and practices.
  • Ability to perform as a team player.
  • Self-motivated and dependable, demonstrating good leadership skills.
  • Good communicator and organizer.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Know and manage own emotions, strengths and weaknesses.
  • Competent in computer applications for engineering.
