Job Purpose: Responsible for developing and implementing a global ocean enhancement strategy. Oversee the company’s approach to terrestrial, marine biodiversity, and coastal issues. Conservation of biodiversity is a key component of climate change and a business priority for DP World. Oceans are a vital part of our business and legacy pillar under the Our World Our Future strategy. They are also the world’s main repository for biodiversity. Key Accountabilities:
Build upon existing ocean enhancement strategy and its three verticals: ocean restoration, coastal clean ups, and education program.
Introduce global biodiversity policy, approach and management focusing on marine, terrestrial, and coastal issues.
Develop guidelines, toolkits, and trainings to build local capacity for global implementation.
Under the strategy develop a blue carbon program for marine habitat protection (i.e. mangroves, seagrass, and saltmarsh).
Implement a mangrove conservation program, preserving and restoring mangroves globally.
Develop and implement global plastic pollution campaign/program.
Build and manage partnerships to deliver on objectives and targets.
Oversee the collection of data and case studies in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
Represent DP World on the UN Global Compact Global Ocean Stewardship Coalition.
Responsible for reporting on the UN Ocean Principles and other relevant frameworks.
Collaborate with business units on corporate ocean responsibility and ensure it is integrated into their business development and expansion plans.
Undertake programming and projects related to the expansion of ‘water’ focusing on inland areas.
Develop targets and KPIs following best practice in impact measurement for all programs and projects.
Integrate nature - based solutions to achieve blue objectives and targets.
Responsible for meeting commitments under the United for Wildlife partnership; including leading the MENA taskforce.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
At minimum Environmental, Conservation, sustainable development or Marine Biology Degree
An ocean expert that understands the relationship between marine resource management and social, economic, and political concerns
Minimum 7 years’ experience with significant project management experience
Experience working with audiences in government, INGOs, academia and the media
Proven team coordination, consultation, people skills and senior management advisement
Strong computer and report writing skills.
