This position is for a Field Based (Night) Drilling Supervisor (14/14 Rotation) to manage, assure and execute drilling and completion operations safely and efficiently.

This position is for a Field Based (Night) Drilling Supervisor (14/14 Rotation) to manage, assure and execute drilling and completion operations safely and efficiently.

Accountabilities

Responsible for ensuring HSSE is integrated in the procedure and execution of wells operations (Safety Meetings, TBT's JSA's, etc). Actively promote HSSE and Sustainable Development (SD) in all activities and ensure compliance with business principles. Assist in leading Front Line safety leadership and the delivery of annual safety goals and action plans. Ensure Wells Process Safety principles are implemented, identifying and ensuring compliance to Front Line Barrier Management.

Receive handover from Senior DSV, plan operations during night shift and report on progress made.

Responsible for planning, logistics, supervision, assurance and documentation of the execution of approved well work activities in collaboration with Senior DSV. Any deviation from the approved program will require initiation of Management of Change (MoC) process to ensure appropriate risk management and approvals in place.

Ensure all operations are executed in compliance with company procedures, manuals, policies and guidelines.

Work closely with the Senior DSV & Asset team to make well work decisions/recommendations including selection and optimization of services, materials, fluid systems, operational techniques, operational efficiencies, cost tracking, and management of project risks. Review and provide input on well programs, including details around HSSE, well control, well operations, equipment, contractors, etc.

Assist Senior DSV in coordination of material and equipment and serving as an interface between engineering and operations.

Assist in performing pre-spud inspection on the rig with Senior DSV & Drilling Rig Contractor, prior to accepting rig for spud, ensuring rig equipment and tools are in a safe operational condition.

Ensure that the equipment arriving at the rig site for use on the well construction program are certified, measured, and verified prior to running in hole, including casing and liner strings.

Write Detailed Work Instructions, for the Rig Drilling Contractor and the Drilling Service Providers on the Rig. The Instructions will be discussed in detail every day with all leads to ensure every function on the well site understands fully the operations plan for the day. The Instructions will include, but not be limited to the following: Detailed summary of next steps in the well construction process, Expectations covering wellbore hazards and special or additional precautions required, Conditions and timing for contractor people and equipment, any other business that may impact the safe and efficient execution of the well construction process.

Witness all pressure tests (BOP, Casing, LOT, FIT, SIT, etc.), and other Company well integrity verification requirements.

Calculate all cement jobs and confirm calculations with the cement supervisor on location prior pumping job and ensure sufficient displacement fluid is on location.

Ensure mud engineer performs thorough mud checks throughout the day and accurately reflects the properties in the daily drilling report and daily mud report.

Ensure the Directional Drillers are maintaining the desired well bore trajectory and communicates any deviations in a timely manner to prevent unnecessary high dog legs and costly side-tracks.

Monitor all open-hole tripping, and as a minimum will be on the rig floor to witness the first 10 stands pulled off bottom and the last 10 stands being run to bottom. In addition, be present on the rig floor for tight hole conditions.

Ensure the Driller is filling out trip sheets properly.

Track well costs and job timing during execution, including differentiating trouble costs/time from expected costs/time and advise on potential cost overruns. Checks and verifies for correctness and signs all job reports and tickets for activities carried out on the well by the Rig and Drilling Services Contractors.

Provide input and suggestions on service contracts to enable high performance. Serve as a focal point for HSSE management with the contractors and the evaluation of service quality. Lead discussions with contractors regarding performance, future plans, and deviations needed.

Assisting in operational performance improvement initiatives throughout the well delivery process. Support the implementation of new technologies as part of the performance improvement process. Lead the supervisory team in implementation of opportunities to optimize operations.

Maintaining communication with the Asset Team and support departments.

Dimensions

Anticipated +/-3 drilling units operating drilling and completing +/- 18 Exploration, Appraisal and Development Wells per year

Anticipated for 14 days on/14 days off rotation and with occasional office visits

What we need from You

Key Experiences and Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years' experience in similar role

Leadership, interpersonal, influencing & stakeholder management skills

Willingness to learn, advance knowledge and gain experience in well operations and be open to coaching tips

Driven, motivated & passionate to drive positive change in constructive manner

Continuous improvement and simplification mindset

A degree level in Engineering and proven experience in Well Engineering Operations.

Shell Round 2 Certification/Diploma required or willingness to complete training programme and examinations in parallel to role.

IWCF Well Control Certification and Advanced Well Control Training or equivalent

Proven HSSE & track record of execution excellence, delivering results and continuous improvement in well operations including experience in:

HPHT, Hard Rock Drilling, Tight Gas, Horizontal well operations

Multi well pad batch and concurrent drilling operations

Well Engineering skills including but not limited to:

Well Engineering Operations Planning and Execution

Casing Design planning and execution

Drillstring Design and Directional Plan programming and execution

Well Control Equipment and Executing Well Control Operations

Drilling Fluid and Cementing Design planning and execution

Selection and management of Drilling and Completion Units and Equipment

Completion and intervention planning and execution.
