Job Title: Music Teacher
Reporting To: Head of Department / Head of Performing Arts / Principal
Location: UAE
Contract Type: Full-Time
1. Job Purpose:
The Music Teacher is responsible for delivering a dynamic and comprehensive music education program that fosters musical literacy, appreciation, and performance skills. The teacher will create an engaging learning environment that respects and incorporates both international and local Emirati musical traditions, fulfilling the UAE's vision of a culturally grounded and innovative education, as well as the NCERT's objective of holistic development through the arts.
2. Key Responsibilities:
A. Curriculum and Instruction:

• Develop and teach a curriculum that includes music theory, history, composition, and performance (vocal and instrumental).
• Deliver engaging lessons to whole classes, small groups, and individuals, catering to a range of musical abilities.
• Teach students to read and write musical notation and develop critical listening skills.
• Introduce students to a wide repertoire of music, from Western classical to world music, with a specific focus on Arabic and Emirati musical heritage.
• Direct school choirs, bands, orchestras, and other musical ensembles.

B. Performance and Events:

• Organize and conduct regular student performances, recitals, and school concerts.
• Prepare musical items for school assemblies, national day celebrations, and other special events.
• Collaborate with other departments for cross-curricular projects and whole-school productions.

C. Assessment and Administration:

• Assess student progress in practical skills, theoretical knowledge, and creative work (composition).
• Maintain all school musical instruments, ensuring they are in good working order.
• Manage the music department's budget and resources effectively.

D. Extracurricular and Community Role:

• Lead and promote participation in extracurricular music clubs and ensembles.
• Act as a champion for music within the school, advocating for its importance in a balanced education.

3. Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

• Essential: Bachelor's degree in Music or Music Education. A teaching certification (PGCE, B.Ed.) is mandatory.
• Essential: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Music Teacher in a UAE school.
• Knowledge: A solid understanding of music pedagogy and a demonstrated ability to integrate the UAE's cultural vision and NCERT expectations into the music curriculum.
• Skills: Proficiency in playing the piano (or a primary instrument) and directing vocal/instrumental groups. Strong classroom management skills. Creativity and passion for inspiring young musicians.
