Position Overview:
The Senior Planning Engineer / Planning Manager plays a key role in overseeing the scheduling and progress control of construction or infrastructure projects. This individual is responsible for the development, maintenance, and monitoring of comprehensive project schedules, ensuring alignment with budget and timelines. The role requires close collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders, and includes leading planning operations across one or more major projects.
Main Responsibilities:
Develop, update, and manage detailed project schedules including baselines, revisions, and short-term look-ahead plans.
Establish and monitor project controls such as S-curves, progress histograms, and critical path analyses.
Lead the planning and scheduling function for complex projects within the construction or infrastructure sectors.
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to consolidate all activities into an integrated master schedule.
Track project performance and progress, identify delays or risks, and recommend corrective and recovery actions.
Generate and present progress reports (daily, weekly, monthly) for internal leadership and external clients.
Support cost and budgeting functions through schedule-based insights.
Review and assess contractor schedules and provide recommendations for improvements or adjustments.
Participate in claims assessments and conduct Time Impact Analysis (TIA) for potential Extensions of Time (EOT).
Represent planning function in project meetings and provide updates on schedule status and mitigation strategies.
Guide and support junior planning engineers where necessary.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a relevant discipline.
10-15 years of proven experience in planning and scheduling large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
Expertise in planning tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and Microsoft Excel.
Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and project control methodologies.
Experience with standard contract forms such as FIDIC or NEC.
Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation abilities.
PMP or PSP certification is a strong advantage.
MEP experience is essential.
