Job Description

1. Role Objective:

To Estimate and understand drawings and make an actual tenders prices and quantities from drawings and designs and assist Estimator in detailing all materials necessary to achieve required specifications and calculating cost estimates for MEP scope of work. To ensure ambiguities and discrepancies between drawings, specifications, BOQ are depicted and clarified with all the relevant parties.

2. Detailed Roles & Responsibilities:

STRATEGIC

1) Updates and maintains a construction cost database for forecasting projects costs and ensures that construction cost are managed as efficiently as possible.

2) Monitors and stores cost through the use of computers to improve the accuracy of future estimations. This is sometimes integrated with the quantity surveying activities.

3) Assists in developing techniques/strategies to expedite the process of analyzing quantities and getting quotes from relevant suppliers/subcontractors in the market.

OPERATIONAL

1) Prepares tender prices from studying project's drawings and designs and bills of quantities.

2) Analyzes and compiles data on construction factors, such as labor, materials, special machinery requirements, and site location.

3) Prepares a cost summary for the entire project, this includes the costs of materials, equipment, labor, and other costs affecting the project.

4) Provides ongoing assistance during the construction phase, including estimate, interpretation problem resolution and subcontractor management.

5) Prepares documents of tender summary and Bid Proposal.

6) Checks contract drawings and works out the quantities for all items stipulated in BOQ as per given preambles, specifications and drawings.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

1) Assists in the training and development of personnel in the Estimation function. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Management.
