Job Description
A Medical Research Assistant position is available in the laboratory of Professor Safa Shehab at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to investigate the mechanisms underlying neuropathic chronic pain and how to treat this debilitating condition in rats.
This is a technical position which involves a variety of tasks related to the daily operations of cellular and molecular biology research laboratory in the Department of Anatomy. The tasks will include animal handling, cell biology methods (including microscopy and cell culture) and molecular biology procedures
1. Performing surgical operation under general anesthesia.
2. Exposing and injecting peripheral nerves.
3. Test pain behaviour.
4. Immunocytochemistry.
5. Confocal microscopy
Minimum Qualification
MSc in biology, chemistry, or a relevant scientific field. A PhD degree will be an advantage. A minimum of 3 years of experience is required.
