About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented

Chemical & Mechanical Lab Technician

with strong knowledge of ASTM, API testing standards, and NDT methods. The role involves carrying out daily testing, recording results, and ensuring compliance with international standards for raw materials, finished products, and process validation.

Key Responsibilities (Day-to-Day Activities):

Conduct mechanical testing as per ASTM/API standards, including: Tensile, Yield, Elongation Hardness (Brinell, Rockwell, Vickers) Impact (Charpy V-notch) Bend & Flattening tests Perform NDT inspections (UT, RT, MT, PT) as per applicable codes and standards. Prepare, calibrate, and maintain testing machines, UTM, impact testers, hardness testers, etc. Review and interpret MTCs (Mill Test Certificates), ensuring results meet ASTM/API requirements. Document and report test results with accuracy, including preparation of lab test reports. Assist QA/QC team in inspection, verification, and third-party witnessing of tests. Ensure compliance with ISO/ASTM/API procedures and internal quality management system. Maintain laboratory records, ensure proper sample identification, and implement traceability. Follow safety protocols and ensure safe handling of machines, samples, and testing equipment.

Eligibility & Qualifications:

Education:

Diploma / B.Sc. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or related discipline.

Experience:

2-5 years in a mechanical/materials testing laboratory (Piping, steel, or flange industry preferred).

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of Majority of material standard ASTM & API standards. Hands-on experience in operating and calibrating mechanical testing machines. NDT Level II certification (UT / MT / PT / RT) will be an added advantage ( preferably level III) Attention to detail with strong documentation and reporting skills. Ability to work with TPI/clients during inspections. Team-oriented with good communication skills.

Preferred Categories:

Candidates from flanges, forging, steel, or pipe manufacturing/testing industries. Candidates with prior API Q1/Q2 and ISO 17025 lab exposure. NDT-certified technicians (Level II or III) in accordance with ASNT/ISO standards.
