Mechanical Design Engineer - Duties & Responsibilities

Prepare mechanical design calculations, drawings, and specifications for construction projects. Design HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, and other mechanical systems. Ensure designs comply with project requirements, local regulations, and international standards. Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines. Review and respond to RFIs, shop drawings, and technical submittals. Provide design support during construction and resolve site-related issues. Participate in design reviews, value engineering, and technical meetings. Coordinate with consultants and authorities for approvals and inspections. Ensure designs are safe, efficient, cost-effective, and buildable. Maintain accurate design documentation and revision control.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experience in mechanical design for building or construction projects. 5-10 years of experience Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems. Familiarity with local authority regulations and international standards (ASHRAE, BS, NFPA, etc.). Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical design software. Experience in preparing design calculations, drawings, and specifications. Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary MEP and design teams. Experience handling RFIs, shop drawings, and technical submittals. Good communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
