Job Summary
  • Perform second line review and challenge for Traded Market Risk covering Macro Trading and Treasury Markets businesses with particular focus on Rates trading desk in Africa & Middle East (AME region).
Responsibilities

Risk Management
  • Review and analyse key exposures, limits and their utilization and highlight position concentration in the portfolio and flag downside risks if any under prevailing market conditions as well as stressed market conditions.
  • Assist in resolution of Traded Market Risk limits issues (applications and excesses). This includes monitoring the applicability of the limits and implementation of policies and procedures to the local context in Africa & Middle East (AME) region.
  • Ensure all market risk activities, emerging risk scenarios are identified and monitored on a timely basis. This includes timely investigation and reporting of limit excesses and follow up of its review / approval by the Regional/Group office.
  • Ensure compliance with the Group Stress testing framework and review and update stress scenarios narrative and stress shocks periodically and on an ad hoc basis.
  • Assist in the preparation of portfolio review documents and prepare regular risk summaries for senior management in TRM
  • Provide risk / market analysis on key markets for daily/weekly/monthly risk updates (highlight key risk issues where appropriate) and provide ad hoc analysis as required on an event basis.
  • Support Group and Country market risk capital reporting.
  • Review of Value-at-Risk (VaR) timeseries and ensure market data quality is maintained.
  • Assist in documentation of VaR backtesting breaches and perform regular risk and Profit&Loss (PL) attribution.
  • Maintain a good understanding of the requirements of the Group\'s and Country\xe2\x80\x99s key external stakeholders in respect of Market risk management and ensure these are well understood internally and reflected in internal procedures
  • Analyse and present trade and limit requests to the senior management. Ensure that risk decisions are transparent with well supported rationale.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and requests (e.g as required by senior management and other functions).
  • Maintain appropriate relationships and represent SCB with regulators and liaise with internal / external auditors.
  • Maintain relationship with local business units to provide market risk support.
  • Implement sound controls and consistent processes.
  • Assist in reviewing limit framework on semi-annual and ad hoc basis.
  • UAT testing of new systems and risk reports.
  • Help with reviews of product programmes and country addenda.
Governance
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, Country/Group ICAAP requirements, Codes, and applicable external laws and regulations.
  • Align the Country\'s Market risk management approach to the Risk Management Framework.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • University degree in Finance or any quantitative subject (Science, Engineering).
  • In-depth product knowledge of Financial Markets instruments (Foreign Exchange and Interest rate derivatives) including demonstrated success in a similar role. In-depth knowledge and technical skills related to Financial Markets, Market Risk, Operational Risk and Credit Risk.
  • Experience in market risk management, risk reporting and capital reporting
  • Sharp business acumen (including ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return), strong leadership qualities, excellent interpersonal skills and multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated track record in successful management and ability to manage risk in geographically dispersed and highly varied product base.
  • Results oriented, with demonstrable experience in driving complex change management initiatives.
  • Problem solver and takes ownership of assigned tasks and can manage projects to final delivery.
  • Relevant relationship management experience - with corporate customers at the most senior levels and regulators.
  • Experience with the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s Trade Processing systems such as, Murex, FEDS, and Sabre would be advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Excel VBA, Active Pivot and Access.
  • Flexible working hours as will be required to cover AME countries from the regional hub working across Dubai/London timezones
