Marine Projects Manager - Shipbuilding - ADNOC Logistics and Services - Abu Dhabi, UAE
Position Overview
Marine Projects Manager roles with ADNOC Logistics and Services in Abu Dhabi lead ship design and construction projects from inception to delivery. This position manages builders, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure vessels are delivered on schedule, within approved budgets, and in full compliance with contractual, quality, health, safety, and environmental requirements, supporting ADNOC Group's global maritime and logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as project manager for assigned shipbuilding projects, managing all phases from concept, design, construction, testing, and final delivery
  • Lead and motivate project management teams to achieve approved project objectives, timelines, and performance indicators
  • Ensure timely preparation and implementation of vessel design details and technical specifications in line with contract requirements
  • Supervise and control work quality, progress, and HSE compliance of shipbuilders, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Identify project bottlenecks, recommend corrective actions, and prevent deviations impacting cost, schedule, or quality
  • Review and recommend best practices for materials, equipment selection, and construction methodologies
  • Ensure vessel construction quality complies with shipbuilding contracts, specifications, and classification requirements
  • Coordinate effectively between ADNOC Logistics and Services, shipyards, consultants, suppliers, and regulatory bodies
  • Review and recommend cost estimates, schedules, and project plans for management approval
  • Monitor approved budgets, schedules, and quality benchmarks throughout execution stages
  • Establish project organizations, including team structure, work-hour planning, and mobilization and demobilization plans
  • Evaluate and report on performance of shipbuilders, consultants, and service providers
  • Certify invoices, milestone achievements, provisional acceptances, and final acceptance documentation
  • Coordinate tender and contract documentation, review variations, change requests, and claims, and submit recommendations for settlement
  • Ensure timely receipt, review, and submission of progress reports, technical documents, and project closeout documentation
  • Conduct regular and ad-hoc project meetings with shipyards, consultants, and service providers
  • Prepare monthly progress reports covering project status, milestones, costs versus budget, risks, and delivery schedules
  • Prepare comprehensive project closeout reports including lessons learned, cost reconciliation, and yard performance evaluation
  • Support annual project planning and overall work program development within the projects department
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Management discipline
  • Project Management Professional certification is required
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in project management, preferably in shipbuilding or marine projects
  • Background as Marine Engineer, Chief Engineer, Ship Superintendent, or Classification Society Surveyor is an advantage
Skills Set
  • Strong project planning, scheduling, and budget control capabilities
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills in complex marine projects
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding contracts, tendering processes, and technical evaluations
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English, Arabic proficiency is an advantage
