Role Purpose
Wood Mackenzie’s Performance Improvement (PI) consultants work closely with the leadership teams of leading energy companies around the world, providing support on their highest priority and most challenging issues. The foundation of our approach combines Wood Mackenzie’s world-class data and industry intelligence; our company’s global network of research analysts, sector specialists and discipline experts; with strong core management consulting skills. As a Managing Consultant in the PI team, you will be expected to demonstrate strong general management consulting capabilities, leverage Wood Mackenzie’s global pool of experts, and engage senior-level stakeholders on a diverse range of organizational issues. You will work on challenging projects covering a variety of topics, such as organisational improvements, portfolio strategies, capital efficiency, operational effectiveness and efficiency, supply chain optimisation and cost reduction, as well as industry transformation programmes. Our EMEA PI team is based in Dubai. We serve clients across the region and are continuing to expand our footprint in Africa and the Middle East. The role will require excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, creative thinking and an entrepreneurial mindset, and strong communication skills. You will have the opportunity to work with a team of experienced management consultants and industry professionals on major transformational programmes for large energy companies. Main Responsibilities As a Managing Consultant in the Performance Improvement team at Wood Mackenzie, your role will include the following:
  • Understanding the key issues and challenges impacting our clients
  • Awareness of current issues, external factors, and key trends in the relevant industry and region
  • Understanding the key business and operational challenges faced by organisations in the industry
  • Knowledge of typical performance improvement levers for organisations in different segments of the energy value chain
  • Applying a logical, structured, fact-based approach to problem-solving
  • Thinking creatively and innovatively to solve problems
  • Working collaboratively in a team
  • Presenting impactful data and insights to clients
  • Developing storyboards for senior-level stakeholders
  • Presenting to clients and facilitating workshops
  • Supporting the project director/manager with project and workstream planning
  • Building and sustaining client relationships
Work Location Dubai, UAE Travel Requirements 25% travel to clients in West Africa and the Middle East (typically 1-week trips, occasionally 2-week trips)
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or finance discipline
  • Recent MBA (preferred)
Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience, including >1 year of consulting / advisory experience (e.g. strategy consulting, professional advisory, big-four)
  • Previous experience in oil and gas (preferably in more than one segment of the energy value chain)
  • Project-based, client-facing experience
  • Previous international work experience
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, entrepreneurial mindset, strong communication skills
  • Fluency in English is mandatory
