Responsible for implementing data management standards and work closely with the Business Data Steward in maintaining a common catalogue of data points and business terminology. Liaise with business teams and act as the bridge between business and technology teams in order to ensure people understand how the data is created, manipulated, stored, and moved within and between technical systems.
Key Accountabilities
Data Governance
Support the Executive - Data Governance to operationalize the documented data governance policies and procedures
Gathering, documenting, and reviewing requirements with various business and data owners across the organization. Providing necessary support and inputs in the implementation of / improvement of controls in areas of collection, storage, protection and usage of data, impacting their respective functions
Identification of areas where existing enterprise-level policies and procedures require change or where new ones need to be developed to ensure Data Governance objectives are met
Partnering with project teams to integrate governance practices as part of a project lifecycle
Perform regular compliance audits specific to the implemented controls and submit detailed audit reports to the Executive - Data Governance for review and action. Conducting sessions with owners of individual audit findings to discuss the root cause and agree on remediation steps
Be available for the sessions with Executive - Data Governance and Business Data Steward to listen to their ideas on how to leverage data to improve growth, customer experience, etc.
Ongoing communication and raising of awareness on some of the key elements of Data Governance framework - Data Quality, Master and Reference Data management, Data Catalogue, Dictionaries, Lineages, etc. to improve adoption of data standards
Optimal utilization of the Data Governance tools procured by the Bank
Lead projects under able guidance of the Executive - Data Governance and work closely with Business Data Stewards to ensure that all technical data generated through various applications in the bank are well documented and understood. Key activities from source system and metadata point of view will include:
Bank-wide source system analysis and review
Data catalog, data dictionary and business glossary development and management via metadata capture
Understanding of key data points across different subject areas within the bank across different critical banking applications

Experience and Skills
Professional Qualifications (Desired) Business analyst certification Metadata Certification
Work Experience (Required) Minimum 8-10 years post qualification experience preferably in banking industry. Functional understanding of metadata management and data management practices. Prior experience of working in projects related to metadata management, data quality / profiling tools, especially in customer centric applications, and enhancement of linked processes and systems would be an added advantage.
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes (Required)
Good understanding of business architectures related to customer applications (including key internal business processes and application interactions)
