Job Purpose

The purpose of the role is to develop and deliver world-class Employee Communications, which help to unite a large and diverse global workforce behind DP World\'s aims for Business and Brand Transformation. Reporting to the Director of Internal Relations in the HQ Centre of Excellence, the role is based in Dubai and has responsibilities which are Group-wide and global in scope.

At a time of rapid and thorough change, the central task remains to connect effectively with all employees at all levels, including front line workers. To reach, engage, empower, and motivate employees to play their part in repositioning DP World from simply \'port operations\' to the provision of \'logistics solutions right across the supply chain\'.

Within the last year, the scale of the task has increased significantly as major acquisitions have seen the global workforce almost double in size to over 103,000 people. Thousands of new members of the DP World family (from acquired companies like Imperial and syncreon) need to be made familiar the Group\'s - Our Principles, Business Strategy and Brand Purpose.

Accordingly, the requirement is for an experienced individual able to act with minimal supervision in dealing with the Group\'s growing internal communications workload and the challenges of rapid organisational change.

The role requires leading-edge specialist skills in internal communications, particularly in recognising the critical importance of \'two-way\' dialogue with employees and the increasing role of digital technology in enabling such dialogue.

His/her roles are both strategic and tactical: strategically, to build internal understanding and commitment to business and brand transformation; and tactically to create impetus and momentum around specific immediate term priorities and the achievement of measurable progress against well-defined milestones.

Key Accountabilities:

Strategy. To assist in the further development and maintenance of the 3-year Global Internal Communications Strategy which defines:

the roles of Internal Communications activities in building the brand and the business (at global and regional levels)

strategic targets for key outcomes in terms of shaping employee understanding and attitudes.

the DP World Employee Value Proposition and key employee feedback mechanisms (like the Global Employee Engagement Survey)

Planning. To support the creation of an Annual Global Internal Communications Plan which:

is aligned with immediate term objectives for the businesses and the brand; and identifies necessary resources and budgets.

optimises the use of key owned channels (like Connexions and the One App); thought leadership assets; executive spokespeople; and news features (including stories from the Regional Reporters programme)

provides a manageable calendar of key internal communications activities across the year.

Implementation. To contribute substantively to the implementation of the Internal Comms Plan, through:

the effective application of world-class professional internal communications skills (enabling \'two-way\' dialogue and the use of digital technology to enable such dialogue)

drawing on the inputs of appropriate external specialist agencies

the development of best practice guides and toolkits

Measurement. To work within the framework of a strategic Dashboard of measurements which:

monitors the effectiveness of Internal Comms activities against defined objectives.

tracks overall progress against objectives for employee attitudes and engagement.

enables investment to be justified on the basis of robustly measured outcomes and ROI.

Tactical Responsiveness. To maintain the ability to respond to unforeseen changes, including:

short-term opportunities

issues or problems which were not anticipated.

Continuous Improvement. To encourage and nurture a culture of innovation designed to:

test and validate new ideas and approaches (for example, innovative uses of new digital platforms)

draw on specialist experience and learning from the wider external world.

expand and strengthen professional skill sets and best practices.

Compliance. To constantly adhere to and actively promote behaviours which reflect the DP World Brand Purpose while specifically:

maintaining the highest levels of Safety standards

Responsible for the management and leadership of an engaged team, promoting collaboration and ensuring that each is developed and evaluated against goals and objectives which are aligned, specific, measurable, attainable yet challenging, realistic and time bound.

Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World\'s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World\'s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies

Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

The paramount qualification for this role is at least 5 years\' experience and a proven track-record as a manager of Internal Communications programmes -preferably at global, regional and local levels.

Specialist expertise in professional Internal Communications techniques and best practices is clearly essential. Key skills include excellent writing, editing and proof-reading skills, with diligence and proactivity in validating facts, as well as the ability to source relevant stories from employees.

The candidate must have significant experience in the use of digital intranet channels and the ability to tell stories in interesting and compelling ways to specific audience segments, using words, images, audio, video.

Experience in change management in large, complex multi-national organisations will be advantageous.

The successful candidate will be well-educated to tertiary level, preferably with a degree in directly relevant disciplines like PR, Journalism or English. A high level of proficiency in both spoken and written English is essential. Knowledge of other languages is of benefit.

Excellent multi-tasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary.

Strong relationship management skills are needed, as the role requires the ability to create and sustain relationships across a diverse range of internal constituencies.

Accomplished skills in communication and team working are necessary. As is a global outlook and sensitivity to cross-cultural differences, and a positive perspective on issues of sustainability, diversity and inclusiveness.

Uncompromising standards of personal integrity and maturity of judgement must, of course, meet the requirements of all DP World personnel.
