Job Purpose
To manage, coordinate, and supervise terminal operations, including the loading and unloading of chemical products from tank farms to marine vessels. Ensure all activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with HSE, quality, and environmental standards -- with particular focus on
static energy control
, safe product handling, and environmental protection.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and supervise chemical movement operations from tank farms (fixed and floating roof tanks) to vessels.
Conduct pipeline inspections and readiness checks before each operation.
Ensure proper quality and quantity verification during loading and discharging, including document collection from vessels.
Monitor
static energy buildup
and ensure
proper earthing, bonding, and grounding systems
are in place before and during operations.
Supervise
static discharge prevention procedures
, especially during product transfer, pumping, and tank loading/unloading.
Monitor air pressure release systems of pipelines to ensure operational safety.
Prepare and maintain reports for pump maintenance, including filter cleaning, oil changes, and servicing of centrifugal pumps.
Perform daily inspection and monitoring of pumps, valves, transfer lines, and earthing connections.
Maintain shore tank gauge reports and operation logs.
Coordinate with ship surveyors to verify vessel readiness certificates prior to loading.
Oversee and optimize manpower deployment to achieve efficient and uninterrupted operations.
Liaise with ship crew, surveyors, and operation managers to ensure smooth and steady terminal performance.
Plan and execute daily transfer schedules according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Supervise pipeline transfer and bunkering operations, ensuring safe product handling and
control of electrostatic hazards
.
Manage tank farm, pump station, and manifold operations with focus on safety, compliance, and
static energy risk mitigation
.
Adhere to HSE, NEBOSH, and industry safety standards, ensuring strict compliance during all terminal activities.
Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance, and operational performance reports.
Key Skills & Competencies
In-depth knowledge of terminal operations, chemical transfer systems, and product handling procedures.
Strong understanding of
static electricity generation, dissipation, and control techniques
in flammable environments.
Thorough knowledge of HSE and NEBOSH safety regulations.
Expertise in static electricity control, earthing, bonding, and firefighting systems.
Proficiency in pump and pipeline maintenance.
Excellent coordination, leadership, and communication skills.
Strong analytical, planning, and documentation abilities.
Experience in UAE terminal operations (Hamriyah FZE preferred).
Physical & Working Conditions
Must be willing to work in rotational shifts and outdoor terminal environments.
Ability to perform emergency response duties.
Must adhere to PPE and safety compliance requirements at all times.
