Major Accountabilities


  • Providing effective legal counsel to assigned business teams within the cluster on all as-pects of pharmaceutical business and commercial transactions.
  • Providing quality legal advice in areas including strategic partnerships, data and digital, business development and licensing, contracts, intellectual property and competition law.
  • In collaboration with the Sandoz Global IP Function, conduct risk assessments regarding IP protection and loss of exclusivity.
  • Delivering day-to-day legal services including drafting, negotiating, and settling commercial agreements within the scope of the assigned business teams.
  • Acting as a true business partner, adopting a pro-active, business focused approach to negotiating and drafting transactions and contracts, assisting in management decision processes, and delivering robust risk assessments.
  • Acting independently in complex legal commercial matters and transactions.
  • Leading on disputes and litigation and/or investigations, including managing the work of outside counsel and other legal experts.
  • Working with the wider cluster legal team on development, training and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines across the MEA Cluster.
  • Drive legal simplification and standardization projects and support the implementation of new tools and systems.
  • Contributing to MEA cluster legal initiatives and the execution of the legal function strategy
  • Monitor developments and legislative novelties within the countries in the cluster
  • Advise and determine appropriate legal actions regarding various compliance issues within the cluster.

Minimum requirements
  • Qualified to practice law in a jurisdiction.
  • Fluent English essential, French and Arabic beneficial
  • 8+ years post qualification experience required: ideally gained within a healthcare / pharmaceutical environment, or alternatively, with a top-tier law firm having been exposed to and participated in complex commercial deals while representing healthcare & technology clients
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills; together with a high ability to influence and negotiate
  • Proven ability to deal positively when working within tight time pressures & demanding clients
  • Sound experience in handling a high volume of activity involving multiple, often complex projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrate professional & culturally sensitive work ethic
