Key Accounts Manager Oil & Gas Trading

Job Description

To manage and grow existing key clients in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power, and EPC sectors by providing end-to-end commercial and technical support, effective supplier coordination, and solution-driven quotation management, especially when quotations are declined due to manufacturer, specification, or budget constraints.

?Manage assigned existing Oil & Gas clients and act as their primary commercial contact. Build strong, long-term relationships with procurement, engineering, and project teams. Understand client project timelines, shutdowns, and recurring material requirements. Ensure high customer satisfaction through timely responses, accurate quotations, and reliable follow-ups. Identify repeat order opportunities and long-term supply agreements. ?Receive, review, and analyze RFQs, MTOs, datasheets, and specifications. Ensure all quotations comply with client standards (API, ASME, ASTM, ISO, IEC, etc.). Coordinate with internal technical teams to clarify technical queries and deviations. Build and maintain a strong and diversified supplier/manufacturer list across all product categories. Develop alternate and backup suppliers to avoid dependency on a single manufacturer Communicate RFQs clearly to suppliers and ensure accurate technical and commercial responses. Negotiate best pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and documentation requirements. Evaluate ?supplier performance in terms of quality, compliance, pricing, and delivery. Prepare competitive and compliant quotations aligned with client requirements. Ensure correct selection of manufacturer, material grade, pressure class, and standards. Submit quotations with complete documentation (datasheets, catalogs, compliance statements). Conduct commercial negotiations with clients to maximize conversion and margins. Check client AVL (Approved Vendor List) and recommend pre-qualification where applicable. Provide manufacturer comparison and equivalency documentation.? Review specification mismatch in detail and identify gaps. Offer technically equivalent or superior alternatives meeting the same standards. Submit deviation lists with technical justification for client approval. Coordinate with suppliers to customize material or documentation as required. Explore cost-effective material grades or alternative manufacturing origins. Re-negotiate pricing with suppliers or source from stockists where feasible. Propose quantity optimization, phased delivery, or alternate brands. Apply value engineering while maintaining safety and compliance. Capture client feedback for every rejection and maintain a rejection analysis log. Re-submit revised quotations with optimized technical and commercial solutions. Maintain persistent and professional follow-ups to revive lost opportunities.? Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and finance teams for smooth order processing. Monitor order status, manufacturing progress, and delivery schedules. Ensure submission of complete documentation (MTCs, COC, packing lists, test reports). Handle post-delivery issues, claims, and client feedback efficiently. Track market pricing, supplier trends, and competitor activity. Support management with market intelligence and client feedback?. Assist in expanding product range and sourcing new materials based on client demand. Maintain accurate RFQ, quotation, and order tracking records. Update CRM with client interactions, quotation status, and forecasts. Prepare periodic sales and account performance reports.
