ABSG Consulting is currently seeking to fill the position of Junior Asset Integrity Engineer in the TIV Risk & Reliability Middle East team, based in Al Khobar, KSA. This role is to support the delivery of specialist asset integrity services to clients for operational assets and also during projects execution - greenfield and brownfield. This position will provide support for work to be performed across the Middle East region. The role will focus on clients in KSA but may also involve support to projects elsewhere around the Middle East.

What You Will Do:

The Junior Engineer shall provide support work to define, develop, and implement risk-based solutions. These solutions include but are not limited to: Asset Integrity Management Systems development and enhancement, develop integrity policies, standards and strategies, equipment condition survey's, Fitness for Services assessments, remaining life assessments, inspection data management and anomaly management, RBI studies, plant degradation mechanisms, corrosion loops, corrosion management plans, and materials selection studies

Responsibilities for this position include (note: capability in all is not expected at this time):

  • Coordinating/consulting with client integrity, maintenance, operations, and project groups in the delivery of AI program deliverables.
  • Integration of management systems supporting Asset Integrity for fixed equipment, relief systems and rotating equipment.
  • Provide support to the Project Manager/Senior Engineer for project management activities for AI-related projects.
  • Supporting clients in the definition, implementation, and sustainability of risk management initiatives identified to deliver continuous improvement and compliance with industry/regulatory changes associated with AI.
  • Supporting audits and surveys relative to AI programs for fixed equipment, relief systems, and rotating equipment.
  • Review client information to identify, track, and report MI trends on equipment.
  • Providing support for capital projects, process engineering, and contractors supporting MI program development and risk-based inspection (RBI).
  • Review and recommend immediate/temporary/permanent repairs for identified anomalies or deficiencies (including upgrade/replacement or corrosion mitigation requirements).
  • Assist with identification and need for inspection and monitoring requirements of field systems and equipment (including complete systems review for damage mechanism identification).
  • Review chemical usage/optimization and technical compatibility with cost-benefit analysis.
  • Review Material compatibility and coatings requirements for facilities and general construction activities.
  • Perform failure analysis on corroded and failed components.
  • Review and recommend engineering solutions for failures and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)
  • Monitor and follow up on corrosion monitoring data.
  • Review project documents for new facilities and modifications for design and integrity compatibility with the operating environment.
  • Mark of corrosion loop drawings based on material and service changes, inventory group, and material selection diagrams.
  • Conduct anomaly assessment and manage engineering analysis of equipment, piping, and pipeline anomalies.
  • Evaluate the present condition of components, identifying weaknesses in design, damage mechanism, trends in degradation, and structural integrity.
  • Assist in identifying additional preventive and mitigation measures, determining the re-assessment interval and re-assessment methods
  • Establish an inspection plan and integrate the activities with the client's annual overhaul inspection plan.
  • Review the NDT and other inspection histories and, based on the results of the inspection history, carry out the remaining life assessment and conduct the Fitness for Service Assessment.
  • Based on actual findings, fitness for service assessment is to be conducted based on B31G, API 570, API 579, and other applicable condition assessment codes
  • Development and implementation of Asset Integrity Programs for onshore and offshore pipeline facilities and equipment
  • Level-I, Level-II, and Level-III assessments to be carried out as per the damages reported in the inspection reports
  • Participates in Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) assessments, coordinates the facilitation of required resources, and ensures utilization of the latest proven tools to optimize equipment inspection/ testing schedule, intervals, and procedures
Qualifications

What You Will Need:

Education & Experience
  • Degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering (preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in mechanical integrity, materials/corrosion engineering, tank/vessel/piping inspections, and AI program management.
  • Demonstrated ability in the practical application of 29 CFR 1910.119 regulations, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, API 571, ASME B31 series Piping Codes, API 579, and ANSI/NB-23 National Board Inspection Code, and NACE.
  • Working knowledge of API 510, 570, 579, 574, 576, 580 and 581 codes or recommended practices.
  • Ability to perform: (1) calculations (2) safety/risk/damage mechanism assessments, fitness for service, remaining life assessments for refineries and process plants.
  • Experience working in oil, gas, petrochemical and/or power generation industries.
  • Experience with a consultancy company would be an advantage.
Preferred Skills & Abilities:
  • Familiarity with P&IDs, PFDs, Piping Isometrics, and other key engineering documentation
  • Ability to write reports detailing assessments and results
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with API, ASME, NACE, NBIC, DOT
  • Process plant materials/corrosion engineering experience
  • Damage mechanism assessment of refineries and chemical plants experience as per API-571 and SEP-88
  • Coating, painting, and cathodic protection quality control experience
  • Root cause failure analysis and corrosion studies experience
  • Industrial inspection, operations, and maintenance experience Technical procedure writing
  • Regular travel around the Middle East to client locations, including on and offshore sites.
  • API certified (Optional - or working towards)
