Job Summary:
The Junior Sommelier assists the wine service team in curating, recommending, and serving wines to guests while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality. This role involves wine list management, cellar organization, staff training, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Wine Service & Guest Interaction:

• Assist guests in selecting wines that complement their meals and preferences.
• Present, describe, and serve wine with professionalism and enthusiasm.
• Ensure proper glassware, temperature, and decanting procedures.
• Handle wine purchases, returns, and inventory with accuracy.

Wine Program Support:

• Assist in updating the wine list and maintaining inventory.
• Help with wine ordering, receiving, and cellar organization.
• Conduct regular stock checks and ensure proper wine storage conditions.

Staff Training & Collaboration:

• Train service staff on wine knowledge, pairings, and service standards.
• Work closely with the culinary team to suggest pairings for menu items.
• Participate in wine tastings and staff education sessions.

Administrative & Operational Duties:

• Process wine orders and manage POS entries.
• Assist in organizing wine events, tastings, and promotions.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the wine cellar and service areas.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Certification: WSET Level 2 or equivalent (Level 3 preferred), Court of Master Sommeliers (CMS) Introductory or Certified helpful.
• Experience: 1-2 years in fine dining, wine retail, or hospitality.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of wine regions, varietals, and industry trends.
• Skills: Excellent palate, customer service, and sales ability.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy cases (up to 50 lbs) and stand for long periods.
