Job Title: Roads and Pavements Engineer - Airport Construction PMO Ref: IQ-ROP Job Summary: As a Roads and Pavements Engineer for Airport Construction External Works, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful completion of external infrastructure projects related to roads and pavements for the airport construction. You will be responsible for supervising contractors, monitoring project progress, ensuring quality standards are met, conducting and evaluating tests, resolving problems, and controlling payments in alignment with project measurements. This position requires a thorough understanding of civil engineering principles, construction management, and a commitment to delivering projects on time and within budget .You will directly report to PM. The successful candidate has to provide recommendation letters from previous employers and their CV s will be subject to final approval of the Airport Authority in Iraq. Key Responsibilities: 1. Contractor Supervision: - Oversee and manage external works contractors to ensure adherence to project specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. - Conduct regular site inspections to verify that work is progressing according to plans and specifications. - Provide guidance and support to contractors, resolving any technical issues that may arise during construction. 2. Quality Control: - Implement and maintain strict quality control measures to ensure that all roads and pavements meet the required standards and specifications. - Perform quality inspections, conduct testing, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations. 3. Progress Monitoring: - Develop and maintain project schedules and timelines, closely monitoring progress to ensure that work stays on track. - Identify potential delays or obstacles and work proactively to mitigate them. - Report project status to senior management and stakeholders regularly. 4. Problem Resolution: - Identify and resolve technical issues and challenges that arise during construction. - Collaborate with project teams to find practical solutions to problems that may impact project progress. 5. Cost Control: - Verify and validate quantities and measurements to ensure accurate billing and payments to contractors. - Prepare and submit payment requests in accordance with project milestones and progress. - Collaborate with the finance department to ensure timely and accurate payment processing. 6. Tests and Evaluation: - Conduct various tests and evaluations to assess the quality and performance of constructed roads and pavements. - Analyze test results and make recommendations for adjustments or improvements as needed. 7. Documentation and Reporting: - Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including daily logs, inspection reports, and correspondence with contractors. - Prepare regular progress reports and status updates for project stakeholders. 8. Safety and Compliance: - Promote and enforce strict safety protocols and standards on the construction site. - Ensure that all work complies with relevant local, state, and federal regulations. Qualifications: Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Professional engineering licensure preferred. 10 years experience in managing road and pavement construction projects, preferably including airport construction. Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and quality control standards. Proficiency in project management software and tools. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of safety regulations and construction codes.
