Job Description

The purpose of the internship programme is to provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to develop professional skills, and to gain practical experience and exposure to Control Risks’ services, within a dynamic and rewarding work environment. They will assist our analysts and consultants by providing research and other support for our contribution to the Seerist subscription platform, bespoke consulting engagements and other client-facing activities. Role Tasks & Responsibilities: The successful candidate(s) will conduct desktop research to gather, analyse and present information and perspectives on the risk environment in the Middle East and North Africa region.
They will:

  • Conduct comprehensive desktop, open-source research to enhance analytical output produced on the Middle East and North Africa region for the Seerist platform, our ESG Country Monitor and bespoke consulting engagements.
  • Analyse data gathered internally and externally, and draw out trends from studies conducted into regional political, business, security and operational dynamics.
  • Update background and other standing content for country pages on online platforms.
  • Support analysts and consultants on complex or multi-jurisdictional projects.
  • Carry out research to support business development and marketing initiatives.
  • Research and writing of regular updates for Control Risks’ online services.
  • Engage in creative thinking and general problem solving.
Requirements Essential
  • Education to degree level, preferably with a Masters in a relevant subject (such as politics, international relations, area studies, economics, or another social science).
  • An understanding of the region’s political environment. Outstanding communication skills, and excellent verbal and written English.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programmes (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint etc). Ability to understand, summarise and present large amounts of information.
  • Ability to write concisely and authoritatively under deadlines, while interacting with colleagues and clients in challenging situations.Preferred
  • Fluency in another regional language, both written and oral. Experience in finding, processing and visualising data.
  • Strong presentation skills. Academic or professional training in political analysis.
  • Experience of working or living in the region.
