Job Summary
The Director, Human capital is responsible for strategic leadership and implementation of all functions, policies, procedures and activities at the University across multiple locations. As the head of HR, the Director works closely with senior leadership of the University, providing advice and guidance at a strategic level to support the achievement of the University\'s goals while providing an effective operational service to Dean\'s and Directors on all matters pertaining to people and organizational development.

Responsibilities
The Director of HR is fully responsible for leading an HR function covering all areas of people management including:
  • Recruitment and retention (talent management)
  • UAE National Development
  • Employment contract management
  • Performance management
  • Organizational development and effectiveness
  • Training and development
  • Awards and recognition
  • Compensation and benefits Administration
  • Employee relations, mediation and conflict resolution
  • Information management systems and reporting
  • Workforce and organizational planning
  • Policy and procedure management
  • Rewards and Recognition
  • The Director has a vital role to play in building people policies and programs that contribute to the success of the University as the leading post secondary institution and \xe2\x80\x9cbest employer\xe2\x80\x9d in the region.
  • Works extensively with ambiguity and with highly-charged, critical issues and situations. Must be able to navigate at any level and through complex, potentially conflict- ridden issues.
  • The University operates on multi-campus sites which require high levels of management and communication co-ordination.
  • This is a key post within administration at the University. The incumbent has to respond effectively, recommending solutions to issues which arise from differing expectations of management and employees.
  • The Director must lead in the building of contemporary HR & OD knowledge, theory and methods and its implementation at the University.
  • Interacts extensively with others to educate, influence, and build awareness of key issues and propose solutions.
  • Influences and negotiates with external parties, senior management, deans and directors for the benefit of the University.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with senior management (Provost, Office of the Provost, CAFO) to ensure that Human Resources programs are aligned with University objectives; providing strategic advice and guidance on HR and organizational planning matters.
  • Contributes to and/or chairs various committees and initiatives: Housing Committee; Budget Advisory Committee; Staff Relations Committee; UAE National Development Committee; etc.
  • Works collaboratively with senior officials of the UAE Human Resources community, especially Human Resources executives from other universities in the Gulf Region.
Required Skills
  • Master\'s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Management or related field from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of educations, skills and experience.
  • At least 15 years strong Human Resource Management experience, of which 5 years will be in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience in a university or other higher educational organization or similar complex environment is preferred.
  • Experience in the implementation of human resource \xe2\x80\x9cbest practices\xe2\x80\x9d including developing programs and strategies in recruitment and retention, reward management, education and development, advancement of minority groups, and organizational effectiveness is preferred.
  • Experience leading and influencing human resource policy formulation and implementation necessary.
  • Knowledge of Gulf or UAE employment practices and laws is preferred.
  • International work experience would be of great value.
  • Experience in the evaluation and implementation of HRIS and/or other integrated management systems is preferred.
  • Experience in a multi-cultural and multi-national working environment.
