Job Description

job Summary:
The HSSE Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental policies and regulations within the workplace. This role involves conducting risk assessments, implementing safety programs, monitoring compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental harm.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure compliance with local, national, and international HSSE regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
Conduct regular workplace inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify hazards.
Implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment.
Maintain and update HSSE documentation, including permits, incident reports, and training records.
2. Incident Prevention & Response:
Investigate accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, and recommend preventive measures.
Develop and enforce emergency response plans (fire, chemical spills, medical emergencies).
Conduct drills (fire evacuation, first aid) to ensure preparedness.
3. Training & Awareness:
Organize and deliver HSSE training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
Promote safety awareness through toolbox talks, posters, and campaigns.
Ensure all personnel are aware of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements.
4. Environmental Protection:
Monitor waste management, pollution control, and energy efficiency initiatives.
Ensure compliance with environmental laws and sustainability practices.
Support initiatives to reduce carbon footprint and promote eco-friendly operations.
5. Security Management:
Oversee site security measures (access control, surveillance, emergency protocols).
Coordinate with security personnel to prevent theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
Conduct security risk assessments and implement necessary controls.
6. Reporting & Continuous Improvement:
Prepare and submit HSSE reports to management and regulatory bodies.
Track safety performance metrics and recommend improvements.
Stay updated on industry best practices and legal changes affecting HSSE.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
Certifications: NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent HSE certification preferred.
Experience: 3+ years in HSSE roles (construction, oil & gas, manufacturing, or related industries).
Skills:
Strong knowledge of HSSE laws and standards.
Risk assessment and hazard identification.
Excellent communication and training skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSSE software.
Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented, proactive, strong leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions:
May require site visits, working in hazardous environments (with proper PPE).
Occasional overtime or on-call duty for emergencies.
Performance Metrics:
Reduction in workplace incidents and injuries.
Compliance with safety audits and regulatory requirements.
Employee participation in safety programs.
