Job Description

Job Summary:
The HSSE Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental regulations within the workplace. This role involves implementing HSSE policies, conducting risk assessments, monitoring safety procedures, and promoting a culture of safety among employees and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Health & Safety:

  • Develop, implement, and enforce HSSE policies and procedures in compliance with local, national, and international regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, etc.).
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections, risk assessments, and hazard identification to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents, and prepare detailed reports with corrective action plans.
  • Organize and conduct safety training, drills, and awareness programs for employees and contractors.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear.
  • Maintain safety records, documentation, and permits as required by law.
2. Security:
  • Monitor and enforce site security protocols to prevent unauthorized access, theft, or vandalism.
  • Conduct security risk assessments and recommend improvements.
  • Coordinate with security personnel and law enforcement agencies when necessary.
  • Ensure emergency response plans (e.g., fire, evacuation) are up to date and effectively communicated.
3. Environmental Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., ISO 14001, EPA standards).
  • Monitor waste management, pollution control, and hazardous material handling.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Promote sustainability initiatives such as energy conservation and recycling programs.
4. Emergency Preparedness & Response:
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans (ERP) for fire, chemical spills, medical emergencies, etc.
  • Conduct emergency drills and ensure all employees are trained in emergency procedures.
  • Coordinate with medical teams, fire departments, and other emergency services.
5. Reporting & Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate HSSE records, including incident reports, inspection logs, and training records.
  • Prepare monthly HSSE performance reports for management.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
