The HSE Engineer (Electrical) is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies with a strong focus on electrical safety. The role ensures compliance with legal requirements, company standards, and best practices to prevent accidents, electrical hazards, and environmental incidents at project or site locations.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
Implement and maintain HSE management systems in compliance with local regulations and international standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, etc.).
Identify electrical and general safety hazards, conduct risk assessments, and recommend control measures.
Monitor electrical safety practices, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), earthing/grounding, insulation, and safe use of electrical equipment.
Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and toolbox talks with emphasis on electrical works.
Investigate incidents, near misses, and electrical accidents; prepare reports and corrective action plans.
Ensure proper use of PPE and safety devices related to electrical activities.
Electrical Safety Oversight
Review electrical method statements, permits to work (PTW), and job safety analyses (JSA).
Ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, and safe work procedures.
Support commissioning, testing, and maintenance activities from an HSE perspective.
Verify that electrical tools, panels, cables, and equipment are safe and certified.
Training & Awareness
Conduct HSE inductions and electrical safety training for employees and contractors.
Promote a strong safety culture through awareness programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, client HSE standards, and company policies.
Maintain HSE documentation, records, and reports.
Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities on HSE matters.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in
Electrical Engineering
(mandatory).
Additional qualification or certification in
HSE / NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA
preferred.
Minimum
2-5 years
of experience in HSE roles, preferably in electrical works, construction, power, or industrial projects.
Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards and HSE regulations.
Good communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
Ability to work independently and proactively on site.
