What You Need to Know
The HSE Advisor ensures compliance with legal and company HSE standards while fostering a strong safety culture. They conduct risk assessments, implement control measures, and oversee training, competency assessments, and contractor management. Responsible for incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions, they also track HSE performance metrics to drive continuous improvement. The role includes maintaining legal compliance, enforcing Safe Systems of Work, and ensuring proactive safety engagement through leadership and structured processes.
What We Are Looking For
Some of the Key Responsibilities:
Work with local supervisory teams to conduct standard risk assessments and utilise the TRICs (Toolbox Talk risk Identification Cards) to identify workplace hazards and implement control measures.
Ensure that site operations comply with local and national HSE regulations, Proserv standards and industry best practice.
Provide HSE training, toolbox talks, and safety inductions to employees and contractors.
Lead or assist in investigating workplace accidents, near-misses, and environmental incidents, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Educate teams on safety interactions using PSV and Safety Touch guidance to ensure quality engagement and accurate logging.
Oversee Contractor Management, ensuring inductions, risk assessments, method statements, and permits to work are completed as required.
Implement and maintain a site inspection regime involving all functions to ensure safety, compliance, and proactive discussions on safety topics.
Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, incidents, and compliance reports.
Collect and report on environmental data and objectives.
Some of the Key Accountabilities:
Ensuring that all HSE activities adhere to legal and company standards.
Accountable for thorough incident reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
Promoting a strong safety culture through leadership and engagement.
Ensuring HSE policies, procedures, and risk control measures are effectively implemented and followed.
Tracking and analysing HSE performance metrics and ensuring continuous improvement initiatives are in place.
Conduct assessments of HSE competencies for local team members across all departments that need to demonstrate HSE competency, ensuring minimum standards are met and supporting further development.
Ensure Business Unit-specific and functional processes are followed; resolve incompatibilities with global process owners as needed.
Establish and maintain a health & safety legal compliance register for your site(s) with regular reviews and updates.
Ensure Safe Systems of Work (e.g., Task Risk Assessment, Stop Work Authority, LOTO) are in place and adhered to for all site scopes.
Ensure all site employees achieve the minimum requirement for health and safety awareness training plus any additional job specific training.
Qualifications / Skills & Experience
Education
Level 4 qualification (Higher National Certificate, Certificate of Higher Education) or equivalent in an applicable discipline or equivalent industry experience
NEBOSH General Certificate
Experience
Extensive experience in managing HSE systems, processes, and audits.
Familiarity with standards such as ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety).
Hands-on experience conducting root cause analysis/incident investigation and internal audits
In-depth understanding of production or service deliverables with significant health and safety hazards in the contact of Oil & Gas, Renewables or related industries.
Experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives, promoting a culture of accountability, and managing risks at both site and business unit levels.
Experience monitoring performance metrics (e.g., leading and lagging safety metrics) and leveraging data to drive improvements.
Experience in supporting external audits and ensuring compliance with industry and customer requirements.
Requirements (key competencies)
Demonstrates the knowledge and experience to ensure Compliance with regional laws
Can conduct risk assessments for standard and novel tasks, hazard identification (HAZOP), and implementing control measures tailored to industry needs.
Use of investigation and problem-solving methods like Root Cause Analysis, Cause and Effect, 5 Whys
Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance through internal/external HSE audits (ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
Knowledge of Industry-Specific Safety Standards
HSE performance monitoring and reporting - data collection and analysis for internal metrics, and compliance reporting
HSE Management System - Maintenance of
Contractor Management - knowledge of mechanisms used to control contractors eg review of RAMS, issue of Permits to Work, JSA's etc.
Travel between Proserv sites in your region will be required.
