Head Waiter / Head Waitress (Maitre D' / Captain)
Reports To: Restaurant Manager
Supervises: Senior Waiters, Wait Staff
Job Summary:
The Head Waiter/Waitress is the captain of the dining room floor during a shift. This role leads the service team, manages table rotations, ensures seamless communication between the kitchen and front-of-house, and upholds the highest service standards. They are a key point of contact for guests and act as the right hand to the Restaurant Manager.
Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate all wait staff during service, ensuring proper station coverage.
• Manage the floor plan, table assignments, and seating flow in conjunction with Reservations.
• Greet and seat guests, presenting menus and setting the tone for the experience.
• Describe menu features, answer detailed questions, and make expert recommendations.
• Oversee the pacing of service, communicating course timing with the kitchen.
• Train and coach waiting staff on service protocols and menu knowledge.
• Assist in resolving service issues and support the VIP Waiters as needed.
• Perform final quality checks on dishes before they are delivered to the table.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a supervisory role within a fine-dining environment.
• Extensive food and beverage knowledge with superior presentation skills.
• Natural leadership abilities and a commanding, yet gracious, presence on the floor.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make quick decisions.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
