Overview of the role

Manage the overall leadership and management of a planning team with multiple projects.

What you will do

\xe2\x96\xaa Resource and manage the planning team to suit the business needs
\xe2\x96\xaa Good knowledge of marketing trading, staff availability and terms and conditions
\xe2\x96\xaa Motivate and retain staff
\xe2\x96\xaa Development of staff, including PDR\'s, appraisals and training
\xe2\x96\xaa Maintain close relationships, maintain a consistent approach and liaise with other Senior Planning Staff
\xe2\x96\xaa Analysis of tender information and review tender programmes before submission
\xe2\x96\xaa Review master /contract programmes before sign off
\xe2\x96\xaa Liaise with Business Unit management on all planning matters.
\xe2\x96\xaa Review and Audit all planning process within the business unit on a regular basis
\xe2\x96\xaa Ensure robust Audit trail of as-built information is maintained throughout any project
\xe2\x96\xaa Ensure that Project programmes meet the requirements of Time Control measures contained within the contract and are maintained
\xe2\x96\xaa Review labour Resource and Plant
\xe2\x96\xaa Review and evaluate construction methods and techniques
\xe2\x96\xaa Review, recommend and evaluate prelims
\xe2\x96\xaa Advise on logistics and methods of working
\xe2\x96\xaa Identify complex construction and associated risk/opportunities
\xe2\x96\xaa Assist in resolving the problems
\xe2\x96\xaa Prepare presentation and attend interviews
\xe2\x96\xaa Advise on preparation of entitlement submissions
\xe2\x96\xaa Develop business plan to support AFC strategic direction and vision with planning horizons between 3-5 years
\xe2\x96\xaa Responsible for operational delivery and growth
\xe2\x96\xaa Set business or functional goals objectives
\xe2\x96\xaa Has working parameters set by the Managing Director of AFC
\xe2\x96\xaa Establishes and sustains key client and sector relationship to support the business plan
\xe2\x96\xaa Determines priorities and makes decisions of business unit impact (companywide for professional functions)
\xe2\x96\xaa Overall accountability for the direction of multiple, large, complex operations or functions
\xe2\x96\xaa Contributes/delivers to business group strategy (typically as part of SMT for Business Group)

\xe2\x96\xaa Accountable for financial performance and risk management

Required Skills to be successful

\xe2\x96\xaa Excellent understanding of infrastructure/construction, enterprise, innovation and business growth issue
\xe2\x96\xaa Good knowledge of local legislation
\xe2\x96\xaa Knowledge of key partners and stakeholders, their interest and priorities
\xe2\x96\xaa Advance knowledge of economic strategy and programme development
\xe2\x96\xaa Knowledge of personnel management, including supervision, training and performance evaluation
\xe2\x96\xaa Knowledge of principles of budgeting and finance
\xe2\x96\xaa Knowledge of principles and techniques of the planning profession and development process.
\xe2\x96\xaa Chartered Membership of a Professional Body with Honours Level Qualifications

What equips you for the role

\xe2\x96\xaa Have a minimum of 15 years managerial and or technical experience
\xe2\x96\xaa Significant track record of success in strategically leading a major contract, business unit o region and/or professional function
\xe2\x96\xaa Experience of negotiation in multi-agency, multi stakeholder\'s environment
\xe2\x96\xaa Experience in dealing proactively and responsively with a board of directors
