The Role

We are looking for a proactive solutions-focused finance head with diverse experience. The scope of work will be varied and include providing best practices in Planning, Business Analytics, Budget Management, Financial Forecasting and Modelling, Financial Risk Management, Reporting, and Analysis.

Strategy

  • Lead the FP&A process and advise on long term business and financial planning.
  • Lead the development of new processes, procedures and systems as per business's need.
  • Contribute in formulating and evaluating business strategies/performance including planning, forecasting and budgeting, advanced analysis of financial data, product profitability and liquidity
  • Lead initiatives to develop the strength of reporting including regulatory.
  • Enhance and develop policies, processes, and disciplines to improve financial control's robustness in line with Financial Control and Reporting policy.
  • Contribute toward developing and enhancing analytical and forecasting tools to provide insightful performance reporting and strategic recommendations to the CFO and the leadership team.
  • Assist the CFO in managing all financial and legal aspects of the business and providing analysis for important decision making
  • Support the CFO in future fundraising efforts and advise on the optimum funding model both tactically and structurally as the organisation grows.
  • Ensure adherence to the risk management framework in identifying, controlling, monitoring and reporting the key risks from a financial standpoint.
  • Provide Finance input into systems development and guidance on optimum automation options.
  • Help develop and implement the treasury and liquidity management policy.
Business
  • Support the CFO in the day-to-day management and running of the Finance function.
  • Implement an integrated finance, payments and accounting platform/system.
  • Adopt standard and approved accounting practices for maintaining financial books and records. Adopt controls and get BOD approval for the same
  • Establish ongoing finance support; e.g., monthly reporting & review, planning and forecasting cycles. Install adequate controls, including Audit (internal & external) and Group Finance. Prepare the statutory accounts and IFRS pack.
  • Establish an optimum funding model as the venture grows. Review cash positions daily. Prepare liquidity forecasts for the next 3-6 months. Set up banking facilities
  • Help develop and implement the treasury policy that should entail liquidity forecasting, flagging potential shortfalls/opportunities in advance and ensure adequate liquidity buffer in critical liquidity accounts. Oversee day to day liquidity, contingency planning for key FCY settlement accounts, including credit lines, buffer liquidity etc. as appropriate
  • Have oversight on and manage FX requirements and exposures in line with the treasury policy.
  • Be responsible for tax registration, compliance and reporting, using reputable professional services firm and/or tax advisors. Ensure accurate preparation of corporate tax return. Ensure data availability to prepare VAT/GST tax return
  • Work with Product/Operations teams during new product launch / review of existing products to ensure accurate accounting, no revenue slippage and no lapse in controls
  • Coordinate with SCB UAE and SCV Finance for Financial Reporting and Accounting matters
  • Ensure that appropriate financial controls are in place and that working capital is managed effectively
Processes
  • Establish processes for the smooth management of internal audits and gap analysis
  • Set up process for payment of day-to-day expenses
  • Capture revenue, determine reporting structure for both platform and regulatory, and product mapping.
  • Capture third party and related party transactions (affiliate codes and reported in the IFRS pack)
  • Forecast and review cash flow.
  • Review and/or validate new product or account setups in TP as well as GL. Provide support in ensuring all aspects with GL related setup are adhered to
  • Resolution of TP-GL breaks and timely reconciliation on an ongoing basis
  • Ensuring continuous process and efficiency improvement culture is embedded

Risk Management
  • You will take ownership of the design, implementation and maintenance of finance functions to ensure processes and reporting meet regulatory requirements.
  • You will work toward minimising finance/financial risks by considering the design of finance and accounting systems, implementation of process robustness, appropriateness and performance monitoring
  • Ensure robust process controls in line with the operational risk framework. Lay emphasis on ensuring key control checks (KCSAs) are done on a timely and effective basis and also ensuring no audit fails occur.
  • To escalate the unit's operational risk issues and losses to appropriate levels
  • Be the designated contact point from finance for any audit or risk items
Governance
  • Follow a risk-based approach to decision making
  • Use various metrics to identify potential risk for the Company and appropriately escalate them to risk stakeholders
  • Manage the Operational Risk Management Framework for Finance as first line of defence and support the CFO. Drive risk awareness and mitigation.
  • Ensure timely escalation to senior management of any exception noticed related to work and environment.
  • Always strive to have a positive VOC
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance
  • Support internal and external audits and regulatory reviews and reporting requirements
Regulatory & Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

  • Manage the process of regulatory audits, assessments and internal / external audits on finance matters in relation to regulatory reporting & capital management
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which we operate, especially the wider regulatory and accounting requirements and their impact on the business.
  • CA (or equivalent) along with ICAS (or equivalent) membership
  • Experience in preparing and presenting financial and operational information to a board of directors
  • Experience implementing financial management, accounting, and management information systems
  • Previous fundraising experience will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of financial controls, revenue recognition and financing modelling
  • Knowledge of financial governance and controls
  • Experience negotiating complex corporate contracts
