eMagine Solutions have been retained on a CBDC project within the UAE. You may currently be a Head of Digital Banking, Head of Technology, EVP or SVP level.

Following a recent consultation the project is currently at a \'design phase\'. This will work within a specialist business unit focused on developing the the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) which will be responsible for analysing the opportunities and challenges presented by CBDC and developing the design of a CBDC.

The team\'s activities include macroeconomic analysis of CBDC, work on functional design of CBDC, exploration of technology options for CBDC, and engagement with private-sector stakeholders and international counterparts.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) & Fintech management team and a member of the extended leadership team. The role will include engagement with various stakeholders, such as firms and industry bodies in the financial sector (e.g., banks, payments companies), FinTech, retailers, consumer groups and relevant professional services (e.g., lawyers).

The role holder will be responsible for teams of technologists spanning blueprint development and experimentation and proofs-of-concept. The disciplines represented on the team include architects, developers, security specialists, cryptographers and product specialists.

This person will work closely with the CBDC & Fintech Director, the Head of Digital currency project and the wider CBDC management team. Collaboration with senior management across the whole scope of the organisations operations will be a focus of the role.

Candidates should have a demonstrable track record delivering technology strategies and projects with the payments, technology or public sectors of particular relevance.

In-depth expertise in digital currency technology is preferred but not essential.

Role Responsibilities:

• Technology strategy: Devising and implementing the digital currency technology strategy.

• Thought leadership: Leading a function which acts as the principal source of technological expertise on digital currency technology, devising creative but pragmatic solutions. In this respect, the successful candidate must be able to deliver, via their function, clear, impactful and actionable advice to senior management and policymakers. The successful candidate may either be a digital currency expert themselves or able to ensure that their team is able to offer such advice.

• Outstanding execution: Ensure quality delivery of strategic priorities, including the digital currency blueprint, experiments and proofs-of-concept.

• Governance: Ensuring technology work is properly governed and governance frameworks adhered to, including leading on technology engagement with the Technology Forum and Digital currency Task Force.

• Collaboration: Work closely and collaboratively with colleagues from other central banks and international organisations (e.g. IMF, BIS), HM Treasury, National Cyber Security Centre and other strategic partners.

• Functional design: Jointly overseeing the work of the team developing the functional design and user proposition for the CBDC (under a dual reporting line arrangement with the Head of the digital currency project).
