The Gypsum Worker is responsible for installing, repairing, finishing, and maintaining gypsum board systems, including partitions, ceilings, wall linings, and decorative elements as per project specifications and safety standards. The role involves measuring, cutting, fixing, taping, jointing, finishing, and ensuring a smooth, ready-to-paint surface.
Key Responsibilities
Install gypsum boards (drywall) on walls, ceilings, and partitions.
Measure, cut, and shape boards as per drawings and site requirements.
Fix framing systems such as metal studs, channels, and ceiling grids.
Apply tapes, joint compounds, corner beads, and surface finishes.
Perform sanding, patching, and surface preparation for painting.
Repair damaged gypsum boards and ceilings as needed.
Install decorative gypsum elements (bulkheads, coves, etc.).
Ensure all work meets quality standards and project timelines.
Follow safety rules and wear required PPE at all times.
Coordinate with site supervisors, electricians, and other trades.
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience as a Gypsum Board Installer or similar role.
Knowledge of gypsum board systems, metal framing, ceiling systems, and finishing techniques.
Ability to read and understand drawings, measurements, and specifications.
Skilled in taping, jointing, finishing, and surface preparation.
Physical ability to lift materials and work at heights.
Attention to detail and quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Minimum
2-5 years of experience
in gypsum board installation/finishing.
Experience in commercial, residential, or industrial projects is an advantage.
