Job Description

Principal Accountabilities:

Prepares freight offered for shipment to include packing, crating, weighing, marking, labeling and documenting cargo. Ensures hazardous materials are properly inspected, documented and certified.

Prepares and handles cargo in accordance with all prescribed regulations, instructions, technical orders and procedures.

Prepares with limited assistance, all required shipping documents for all cargo offered for transportation. Assigns/obtains Transportation Control Numbers (TCN). Maintains a TCN Log.

Assists in maintaining WRM and operational stock levels of all 463L assets.

Loads/offloads all 463L pallets, containers and trucks in a timely manner.

Inventories and inspects all incoming freight for damage prior to acceptance. Reports discrepancies to supervisor.

Inventories, documents and loads outbound freight into containers, and/or loads cargo onto trucks.

May use automated computer systems and programs to process and document all freight.

Operates and positions MHE, wide body loaders and cranes to load/offload trucks, containers and pallets IAW prescribed procedures.

Safely transport explosives from storage facilities to flight line explosive parking marshaling areas.

Maintains publications, forms and files required for traffic management and air terminal operations, as required.

May operate computers, printers, and fax machines.

Coordinates work schedules with Traffic Management Supervisor.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills:

Must have organizational skills and be able to understand, speak, read and write English at a beginner level.

Familiarity with Supply, TMO and air cargo documentation preferred.

Must possess a valid home country driver's license and ability to obtain host nation driver's license.

Will be required to operate material handling equipment.

Experience & Education:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Cargo Assistant I - Qualified Level (Requires no assistance), four years experience in TMO and/or air cargo operations preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

Works in maintenance shop or warehouse environment and may be required to work outdoors for extended periods.

May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.

Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to prescribed procedures and as required for task being performed.

Physically capable of performing all required duties; capable of lifting/pushing/pulling minimum of 50 lbs. and performing extensive work handling/lifting equipment. Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
