About the Position
UOWD is seeking applications from candidates to fill the position of General Accountant. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the General Accountant will support accounts receivable, accounts payable, as well as assisting financial accountant in month end closing. The position also provides support in maintaining cost coding structure, updating finance department process and cost control. Key areas of responsibility include:

• • Creating and distributing report on different cost center and projects.
  • Maintaining all internal and external grants projects communication, accounts and records.
  • Preparing payroll reconciliations
  • Maintaining work in progress and fixed assets record register.
  • Performing reconciliation between different financials system and banking channels.
  • Performing intercompany reconciliation and transections
  • Maintaining schedule for different general ledger accounts including student visa and insurances.
  • Reviewing detail P&L and balance sheet and ensure the transections are correct in relation to project code, cost centers and account coding.
  • Assisting Financial Accountant on month end reporting.
  • Working closely with accounts payable and accounts receivable staff and run day to day reports and transections.
  • Handling month end financial processes and reports as and when required.
  • Working closely with treasury accountant on bank reconciliation and bank related transactions.
  • Assuming duties of AR, AP and treasury accountant occasionally

Ad-hoc Responsibilities

• Assisting financial accountant in filing VAT return by providing monthly VAT input report.
• Provide support to Accounts Receivable Officer in Fees Revenue Management and Control
• Assist treasury accountant in bank reconciliations

Qualifications
Education Essential:

• Undergraduate Degree in Business and Commerce or equivalent working experience
• 5+ years financial accounting experience in a large / complex organisation

Desirable:

• Education sector experience

Knowledge and Skills

• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles.
• Strong technical skills in cost accounting;
• Problem solving skills and customer relations skills;
• Attention to details;
• Computer proficiency including Word and Excel;
• Organizational skills and ability to prioritize;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English;
• Flexibility regarding working hours.

Desirable:

• Knowledge and experience in using Oracle.
