Durham School Dubai is seeking to appoint an outstanding, experienced leader to become our founding Head of Senior School in August 2023. The successful candidate will lead the Senior School, consistently striving for the highest standards of academic excellence in a well-rounded and holistic educational programme, inspiring the pupils to become life-long learners. Durham School Dubai opened in August 2022 with pupils aged from 3 to 13. It follows an enriched and extended National Curriculum for England, with the intention to offer IGCSEs and A Levels. Durham School Dubai is a branch school of the prestigious Durham School in the UK and as such offers an authentic British independent school experience with the same high expectations in academic and pastoral matters. The school enjoys excellent facilities and a superb British teaching staff that combine to enable each pupil to realise their full potential and develop the skills and confidence for life required for a fulfilling and responsible role in a changing society. In September, the Senior School will be made up of Years 7 to 9 with pupils aged between 11-14. Over the coming years the school will grow steadily adding a year group at a time in a controlled expansion to ensure that quality and standards are maintained at each stage. Durham pupils are drawn from a range of nationalities, and although the largest representation is British, there are a number of pupils in our EAL programme. The school has excellent facilities with scope for further development to support the curriculum. The maximum class size is 24 and classrooms are used by a range of subjects, alongside specialist rooms equipped for science, IT and computing, music, drama and art.
