Job Title:

Fit-Out Design Detailer

Job Summary:

The Fit-Out Design Detailer is responsible for transforming conceptual fit-out designs into detailed, accurate, and buildable technical drawings and specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, building codes, and shop drawing production. The Detailer works closely with designers, architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure that design intent is translated effectively into constructible solutions, meeting quality standards, budget constraints, and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Detailing & Documentation:

Develop comprehensive and accurate detailed drawings for all fit-out elements, including but not limited to joinery, ceilings, flooring, wall finishes, partitions, bespoke furniture, and specialty installations. Produce detailed sections, elevations, plans, and 3D views as required for construction. Integrate architectural, structural, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), and IT coordination into detailed drawings. Prepare material specifications, schedules, and finish schedules. Ensure all drawings comply with relevant building codes, industry standards, and company best practices.

Collaboration & Coordination:

Work closely with the design team to understand the design intent and provide technical feedback on feasibility and constructability. Collaborate with engineers (structural, MEP) to ensure their requirements are incorporated into the detailed design. Coordinate with project managers and site teams to understand site conditions and resolve technical issues during construction. Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to understand material limitations, fabrication methods, and lead times. Review and comment on shop drawings submitted by contractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with design and technical specifications.

Software Proficiency & Innovation:

Utilize advanced CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) for 2D and 3D detailing. Explore and recommend new detailing technologies or methodologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Quality Control & Compliance:

Conduct thorough self-checks and peer reviews of drawings to minimize errors and omissions. Ensure all detailing adheres to project specifications, client requirements, and quality standards. Maintain a clear understanding of local and international building regulations and safety standards.

Problem Solving & Value Engineering:

Identify potential design or construction challenges early in the process and propose practical, cost-effective solutions. Participate in value engineering exercises to optimize material usage and construction methods without compromising design integrity.

Documentation & Archiving:

Maintain organized digital and hard copy archives of all detailed drawings, revisions, and related documentation. Manage drawing revisions and issuance logs effectively.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Architectural Technology, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in fit-out detailing, technical design, or architectural drafting within the commercial, retail, hospitality, or residential sectors.

Technical Skills:

Expert proficiency in AutoCAD is essential. Strong proficiency in Revit or similar BIM software is highly preferred. Familiarity with 3D modeling software (e.g., SketchUp, Rhino, 3ds Max) for visualization and coordination is a plus. Excellent understanding of construction materials, joinery details, finishes, and fabrication processes. Knowledge of local and international building codes and standards
