Specific Role context
Typically responsible for being a key point of contact for support and advice in financial matters, either directly either indirectly through the involvement of other Finance specialists, shared services or external suppliers and for advising and challenging the management team to support them with informed decision making on Finance matters and impact on the business. Roles will comprise responsibility for:
Business Controlling (P&L for the Group / a Business Unit / region / country; management and legal view) Functional Controlling (e.g. operations, customer, product, sales channel, IT) Investment Controlling (e.g. capital investment projects, mergers and acquisitions)

Provide Controlling service and support to specific business area(s) of small / medium scale complexity As experienced Controlling professional provide expert guidance to line managers within own business area(s) helping them to interpret figures and draw conclusions May have responsibility for small team Handle broad range of Controlling work - some admin and routine (e.g. monthly budget reporting), but often complex and non-routine requiring more background research and analysis e.g. forecasting, business cases Ensure delivery of own service for own area to set standards, targets and schedules and improvements Focus on ensuring positive business impact of Finance within own area - country, sector, product, etc. in scope
Key Areas of Responsibility
Financial Planning - forecasting, estimating trends and supporting the strategic direction for the Group / Business Unit / function and developing these into short (budget) and medium term plans (MTP / IBP) Financial Control - ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and group policies. Managing funding requirements with the support of the Group Treasury functions, managing risk controlling Project / Investment Control and Review - supporting the business in evaluating business proposals with a view to maximize returns whilst minimizing risk. This includes assessment of capital investment projects and involvement in acquisition proposals. Financial Performance Analysis and Reporting - analyzing and reporting of financial activity in a timely and transparent way with recommendations where appropriate. This involves holding periodic reviews with managers / staff. Commercial Support - supporting business partners in commercial negotiations with customers, suppliers with particular reference to pricing, payment terms, liability cover, termination costs and credit risk.
